Big Matches

The two televised matches over here are both cross-Conference clashes. We are in California for the first of them as the San Jose Earthquakes host the Chicago Fire in one of the earlier kick offs on the evening and then the focus moves to Texas for the Houston Dynamo match against DC United in a battle of two teams who are going very well in their respective divisions thus far.

Best of the Rest

Bruce Arena makes his return to MLS in the first match of the night when his New England Revolution side head to Montreal Impact. The match of the night could well be the one in Philly where the Philadelphia Union host the Seattle Sounders. Real Salt Lake go up against Toronto FC while Minnesota United take on Columbus Crew. The evening concludes in Kansas City where SKC play host to Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps.

Betting

This is actually one of the trickier cards of the season so far in my eyes. If I was a brave person I would side with the stellar home form of both the Houston Dynamo and the Philadelphia Union but I have complete respect for their opponents Seattle Sounders and DC United so I’m not brave enough. That leaves me with just the one bet for the night.

That comes in the match between Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC where it is the home side that I like the look of. Toronto FC had a tough battle with DC United in midweek which is never a positive thing heading into the weekend but I was really unimpressed with the Canadian outfit in that match. They had no creativity at all and look so light up front without Jozy Altidore. They might find life a little easier in terms of finding space now they are on the road but I need to see a lot more from them. This is only the fifth time RSL have played at home this season and they have a pair of wins and a couple of defeats so far but with their road form building their confidence recently I see this as a match Real Salt Lake should come out on top in, especially with their extra freshness.
