MLS 2019 – Saturday 23rd March Matches Betting Preview

It might be the international weekend but the Major League Soccer season stops for nobody and there are four matches in the entertaining competition on Saturday night, as the campaign begins to pick up a little speed.

The majority of the big guns have too many internationals to justify a fixture but there are eight sides who are happy to play and we are very happy for the chance to watch and punt on them. One of the matches is on TV with the other three being available on the normal streams.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off in brackets)

FC Dallas v Colorado Rapids (21.55)

New York Red Bulls v Orlando City SC (23.30)

Philadelphia Union v Columbus Crew SC (23.30)

Los Angeles FC vs Real Salt Lake (02.30)

Preview

The televised match for this of us who are in the UK comes from the Red Bull Arena as the New York Red Bulls take on Orlando City in what should be an entertaining match up in the Eastern Conference. At the same time two other Eastern Conference sides battle it out when the Philadelphia Union go up against Columbus Crew in an interesting looking match.

There are two matches from the Western Conference on the evening as well. They include the match which gets the action underway when FC Dallas take on an underrated Colorado Rapids out in Texas and then closing the show are two play-off sides from last year when Los Angeles FC take on Real Salt Lake in what should be an entertaining match.

Betting

At this stage of a season bets tend to pick themselves in this league and that is the case on Saturday night too where two stand out to me. The first of them comes in the Big Apple where we have to expect goals when New York Red Bulls take on Orlando City. The Red Bulls have begun the campaign very positively and look to be free scoring but Orlando definitely have goals in them themselves. There is a vulnerability to Orlando though at the back and with the Red Bulls missing a host of defenders to international duty the likelihood is strong for over 3.25 goals to be covered here.

Los Angeles FC have lost a few to international duty but nobody that can’t be adequately replaced and I expect them to go to town on Real Salt Lake, who haven’t impressed me so far this term and who are missing their best player in Albert Ruslak who is away with his country. LAFC have already picked up a comfortable win over the Portland Timbers this season and I fancy them to have too much for the Salt Lake outfit here.
