MLS 2019 – Saturday 8th June Matches Betting Preview

The last night of action in the MLS before the break for the Gold Cup sees three matches taking place on Saturday as the competition draws to a close for a couple of weeks. No team will want to go into the rest time with a loss to their name so we should get some competitive football.

Not only is there three matches over the course of the evening but the good news is that all three are on TV for those of us who watch this league from over in the UK. That means there is no need to miss any of the action.

San Jose Earthquakes vs FC Dallas (20.30)

The action begins with a Western Conference clash as the fast improving San Jose Earthquakes take on FC Dallas in an interesting match. San Jose have got themselves onto the fringes of the top seven and will go into them with a win here. FC Dallas are already in there and victory in this match will consolidate their position.

The way San Jose have performed in recent matches I think it is reasonable to expect them to win this match, especially with FC Dallas missing some key players on international duty but the Earthquakes are also without one or two for that reason so I’m not so sure I want to be backing them at odds on. This one is best left alone.

Philadelphia Union vs New York Red Bulls (00.30)

The Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia Union have the chance to go into the break four points clear at the top of the table when they host a New York Red Bulls outfit who have recovered well from a disappointing beginning to the season.

The Red Bulls are fifth in the table and will go up to second in it should they win here so they certainly don’t lack for incentives. However they are without almost their entire defensive line up in this match which is a big concern. That would lead me to looking at backing Philadelphia but they are without one or two and whenever I’m on them they miss a barrel load of chances which always puts me off taking them at skinny prices. I’ll leave this one alone too.

Colorado Rapids vs Minnesota United (02.00)

The final match before the break is another Western Conference tussle when bottom of the pile Colorado Rapids host a Minnesota United side who are in the top seven and will want to strengthen their position in it with a win here.

I think based on what we’ve seen from these two sides so far this season we should be expecting goals in this match. The Rapids have only played 15 games but there have been an astounding 58 goals in them while the 15 games Minnesota have been a part of have contained no fewer than 47 strikes so goals are a feature of the matches these two have played this term.

The two MLS fixtures between these two on this ground have ended 2-2 and 3-2 so when you factor that in as well it would be relatively obvious to expect goals. Amazingly with all that in mind we can get even money on over 3 goals in this game and although I’m exercising a little bit of restraint in these matches with so many away I can’t ignore that.
