It is a big Sunday evening in the MLS this week with five matches in the competition taking place on what should be a really enjoyable night of action as teams scrap for valuable points in the race for the play-offs.
The five matches pretty much follow each other with the odd crossover and three of them can be viewed live on UK TV with the other two available on the usual streams. It should be well worth following a good looking night of football.

Two sides who will be looking for a win to make their play-off spot look a little more secure meet in the first game which is one of the TV matches. That sees the Portland Timbers, who after a poor start to the season would amazingly move into second spot in the Western Conference for a couple of hours at least, hosting DC United who themselves would move back into a position where they would have a home game in the play-offs. The big game from the Western Conference is also on TV when fourth placed Minnesota United host second placed Real Salt Lake with the other TV game coming from California where the two teams immediately outside the top seven in the West meet as LA Galaxy host Sporting Kansas City in what feels like a must win game for the visitors.
Colorado Rapids might not have completely given up on the postseason just yet but if they are to keep their hopes alive they will have to beat Toronto FC up in Canada. The home side there will want points to solidify their top seven spot. The other game sees two more sides looking for a win which will ease the pressure between now and the end of the campaign going up it when Seattle Sounders host the New York Red Bulls.
Betting
Home matches for the Seattle Sounders have been pretty high scoring in recent times and there is no reason why their one against New York Red Bulls on Sunday evening won’t follow suit. Both these sides know where the back of the net is but there is a vulnerability to both too which makes them so watchable it has to be said.
It is a rarity for a Red Bulls game to have a goal line that is only three these days and to be fair there aren’t many Sounders games where that is the case either. When you throw in the need for both these teams to get the points to serve their play-off ambitions I’ve got to think that we might get another of those MLS end-to-end matches and should we get that I think we’ll also get more than three goals.
