MLS 2019 – Wednesday 24th April Matches Betting Preview

There is a midweek set of matches in Major League Soccer this week with almost half of the competition in action on Wednesday evening. Five matches take place across the two Conferences on a relatively busy night of action.

We have one match on TV to keep our eyes on in the UK and then the other four are all on the streams although annoyingly there are a few that clash with each other which will make watching all of them difficult.

Wednesday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off in brackets)

New York City FC v Chicago Fire (00.00)

Columbus Crew SC v D.C. United (00.30)

New England Revolution v Montreal Impact (00.30)

Minnesota United FC v LA Galaxy (01.00)

Seattle Sounders FC v San Jose Earthquakes (03.30)

Preview

The televised offering comes from Ohio where top spot in the Eastern Conference is at stake as Columbus Crew play host to Wayne Rooney and his table topping DC United side. That match is live on Free Sports. The two other big matches are all-Western Conference battles. Minnesota United host the form horses LA Galaxy while Seattle Sounders play host to the San Jose Earthquakes at CenturyLink Field.

The other two matches on the night both come from the Eastern Conference with four of the bottom seven in action. New York City FC will be looking to build on their fine win in DC at the weekend when they host a Chicago Fire side who should be more dangerous than they often look while Montreal Impact will look to bounce back from a pretty convincing beating by Philadelphia Union at the weekend when they head to Foxboro to take on the New England Revolution.

Betting

I’m tempted with the over in two goal lines here but I’ll side with just the one because these midweek games can be a little quirky. I highlighted the insane number of goals that Minnesota United matches contain before they played Toronto FC on Friday night and they duly went and lost 4-3 so there is no point in ignoring the over here either.

They host Los Angeles Galaxy on Wednesday evening in what is their second match in their new home. The first one ended 3-3 with New York City FC to further highlight the level of goals per game when the Loons are involved. Galaxy are no slouches in front of goal. They’ve scored two or more in each of their last five matches. The reverse fixture between the pair ended 3-2 in California. I’m expecting something similar to that either way here.
