Preview

The televised match comes from Audi Field as we get to see Wayne Rooney and his DC United teammates when they play host to the Chicago Fire in the Eastern Conference. The action begins with the two sides who came into the league at the same time three seasons ago when Atlanta United welcome Minnesota United to Georgia in what will hopefully be more entertaining than some of the Atlanta games we have seen so far this season.

There are two more cross-Conference clashes on the card on Wednesday night. Philadelphia Union will hope for a slip up from DC United so that they can get their top spot in the East back when they host Colorado Rapids while Montreal Impact will look to end a little slump when they welcome Real Salt Lake. The final match of the night sees two of the leading lights in the Western Conference historically going at it as Sporting Kansas City takes on Los Angeles Galaxy.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the evening and we have to wait until the final matches for them. I’m actually quite surprised that DC United are a shade of odds against to see off the Chicago Fire. DC United are traditionally very strong at home while Chicago Fire are pretty average away. The best work of the Fire tends to come on their home pitch, like a lot of sides in MLS, and in six games on their travels this season they have only mustered a couple of points and I’m still fathoming how they got one of them. DC United have had a couple of wobbles at home this term but they were to Los Angeles FC and New York City FC. Those matches aside they have picked up four wins from five and they have the quality in their ranks to pick up another one here.

Sporting Kansas City are missing a whole host of players for their clash with Los Angeles Galaxy but that didn’t stop them taking the game to Seattle Sounders on Sunday night and given that they have so many out there is no chance of rotating too much. There have been 32 goals in matches in Kansas City this season in just seven games so value for money is certainly on offer for the SKC fans. Galaxy ended an indifferent run with a win in Orlando on Friday night and while they were nothing special there, they did at least get the job done and they now have Zlatan Ibrahimovic back in their ranks for this one. I expect to see goals flowing again here with SKC having to attack with the absentees they have in defence, something which should open the game up for Zlatan and co.
