Big Matches
The two televised matches come along pretty early in the piece with the first of them being the opening match of the day as Sporting Kansas City take on FC Dallas in a big Western Conference clash. The second one is a big one in the Eastern Conference when Atlanta United take on an Inter Miami side that are beginning to make shockwaves in the transfer market after Gonzalo Higuain joins Blaise Matuidi in Florida. The other big match sees the leaders of the Eastern Conference, Columbus Crew, hosting Nashville SC.
Best of the Rest
Elsewhere, Toronto FC will be the first Canadian side to face American opposition since Covid-19 struck. They head to DC United while Vancouver Whitecaps will take on Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto. There is a big clash in the Eastern Conference for Orlando City when they host Chicago Fire while later in the night there is an appealing match down in Califormia when San Jose Earthquakes host the Portland Timbers, MLS is Back tournament winners from earlier in the season.
Betting
I’ll go with two over the course of the night with the first of those coming in Orlando where I expect Orlando City to be far too good for Chicago Fire. The Fire haven’t won on their travels this season and they are not a team who tend to perform well when they go away anyway. At the beginning of the season I thought Orlando City were frauds with their start to the season but I have quickly realised that isn’t the case and actually that they should be taken seriously. They could move into second place in the Eastern Conference with a win here which would be quite some move. I expect them to pick up that victory too. Orlando for me.
It won’t be a surprise to anyone that my other bet is over 3 goals in the match between San Jose Earthquakes and Portland Timbers. I’ve banged on about San Jose Earthquakes and their open and entertaining style and what that means but despite the loss of Sebastian Blanco the Portland Timbers continue to score goals and their matches continue to be laced with them. This is a pretty low line when you consider the attacking nature and prowess of these two sides so I’m happy to be on the over.
