Big Matches

The televised action on this side of the pond gets going right from the off when the former champions Atlanta United take on the side they came into MLS alongside in a much improved Orlando City outfit before we head to the Big Apple for the second game in front of the cameras as New York City FC look to build on their fine win over Columbus Crew last time out when they go up against a Chicago Fire side who also had a good win in midweek. Philadelphia Union had a good season last year and a very positive MLS is Back tournament and they’ll be looking for three points when they host DC United. The final televised match of the night comes from the Western Conference when the Portland Timbers host Real Salt Lake.

Best of the Rest

There are a few eye catching matches which will need to be viewed on the live streams. The pick of them might be the California clash between LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes in a match where defences could be under pressure. New England Revolution and New York Red Bulls will lock horns at Gillette Stadium. There is a battle of Ohio as FC Cincinnati take on the Columbus Crew while FC Dallas will look to put a poor restart to their season behind them when they go up against Minnesota United. Colorado Rapids and Sporting Kansas City meet in the other game.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of Saturday evening with the first of those seeing the Philadelphia Union taking on DC United where I’m expecting to see a home win. Philadelphia Union don’t score many goals but they don’t concede many either. The big thing is they are in decent form having only lost one of their seven regular season matches, against FC Dallas away from home. They also had a good MLS is Back tournament and DC United don’t really apply in either category. Their only regular season win was against Inter Miami when the new boys were still finding their feet and their MLS is Back competition never really got going. Everything here points to a home win for me.

I keep on trying to get on San Jose Earthquakes matches to have goals and they keep getting cancelled but I don’t think their match away to LA Galaxy will be postponed but I do expect this historic rivalry to be entertaining and come with plenty of goals. Generally when these two sides meet goals flow naturally and if anything San Jose are set up for their games to produce even more goals. It isn’t as though this Galaxy side lack a goal threat either so with both teams chomping at the bit to get stuck into each other I like the look of over 3.25 goals here.
