Preview

The televised offering comes from the Eastern Conference on Tuesday night when two sides in the bottom half of the table meet as DC United host New England Revolution. Between them those sides have drawn seven of their 12 regular season matches combined so a stalemate shouldn’t be ruled out there. FC Cincinnati will look to continue their good recent form when they make the trip to Soldier Field to take on a Chicago Fire side who will hope to be inspired by their new surroundings.

There is one other match in the Eastern Conference on Tuesday night and it might well turn out to be the pick of them as the Philadelphia Union play host to the New York Red Bulls while later in the night it is top against bottom in the Western Conference as Sporting Kansas City take on the Houston Dynamo. The other match sees the latest leg of the Canadian clashes taking place when Thierry Henry and his Montreal Impact side host the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Betting

At first glance this doesn’t look the easiest card to bet on. Not only do none of the fixtures really stand out but this is a second match for the sides involved in quick proximity after a spell away from the game so we might see some strange results. To be fair MLS is no stranger to an unforeseen result or two in midweek matches even in normal times let alone this period where the action is condensed and coming thick and fast.

There is one bet that takes my fancy though and it comes in that match at Soldier Field where I’m not expecting many goals when the Chicago Fire take on FC Cincinnati. The visitors are forging a reputation for being hard to break down under Jaap Stam, and go into the match having conceded just one goal in their last four matches. Chicago Fire are without a goal in their last three so there is a case to be made that the handicap lines for Cincinnati are big but I’m not so sure I would trust them in front of goal just yet either. Under 2.5 goals looks a much safer bet between two teams with just 10 goals in 12 regular season games between them this term.
