MLS 2020 – Wednesday 9th September Matches Tips and Betting Preview

There is a mini midweek fixture list in the MLS this week and it begins on Wednesday night when five matches take place across the two Major League Soccer conferences on an evening where the two league tables could start to tighten up once again.

There are five matches in all on Wednesday evening with some big sides on show. One of the matches are live on TV for those of us who are in the UK with the other four being shown on the bookmaker streaming consoles.

Preview

The televised action comes from the Western Conference where Minnesota United have the chance to move into top spot in the table when they host an FC Dallas side who are proving hard to beat but who aren’t winning as often as they would like. Elsewhere it is a big night for Atlanta United. They sit outside the top seven but a win in their trip to Inter Miami will see them move back into the top five in the division. The new boys Miami will be looking to come off the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a win here.

We have one match from Canada on Wednesday which sees the Montreal Impact playing host to Toronto FC with those two sides meeting for the fourth time since the league returned. The final two matches on the night come from the Western Conference where Houston Dynamo go in search of a fourth successive win when they head to the hills to take on the Colorado Rapids. Later in the night Real Salt Lake host a stuttering Los Angeles FC side who could really do with a convincing performance as well as a win.

Betting

This isn’t an easy card to bet on but there is one bet I like which comes in one of the later matches where I expect to see more than 2.75 goals in the match between the Colorado Rapids and Houston Dynamo. To be fair to the Dynamo, they are looking a very good outfit under Tab Ramos but while they are looking dangerous going forward there still appears to be a vulnerability to them at the back which is a bit of a surprise.

The same credentials can be applied to the Colorado Rapids who are not short of goals having found the back of the net 11 times in their eight regular season matches. Their area of concern comes in the form of their defence where they have let in 15 goals in that period and you’d expect that part of their game to come under severe pressure here with Houston looking so good going forward. We saw last week in MLS that there are goals to be had in midweek and I expect that to continue here.
