MLS 2021 – Inter Miami vs Orlando City Tips, TV and Betting Preview

Another weekend in this intriguing Major League Soccer season begins on Friday night with the action getting underway in South Florida as two Eastern Conference rivals go at it when Inter Miami host Orlando City.

Inter Miami have come slowly out of the blocks under Phil Neville this season and will be hoping this local derby fires them up whereas Orlando City are flying at the minute and will be looking to cement their lofty position in the Eastern Conference table.

Where to watch

The match will be shown live and in full on the Free Sports channel for us in the UK. The programme begins at 1.20am with the match kicking off shortly afterwards. You can also watch it with the bookmakers who offer a streaming service.

Inter Miami

This has been a poor campaign so far for Inter Miami, one which has thrown up a number of issues. In terms of results they only have two wins from their nine matches, one against FC Cincinnati which isn’t much of a form guide and the other against Philadelphia Union. That looks a better win now the Union have caught fire but we should remember that at the time they were solely focused on the Champions League. They have only won one of their last seven.

The big issues that Miami are experiencing are keeping 11 men on the pitch and then scoring goals. They haven’t found the back of the net in any of their last three matches and if you were being quite honest you would say they were poor in all three games. A side with the depth of talent their squad has should be doing a lot better than it is and you get the feeling we are not a million miles away from something having to give somewhere along the line.

Orlando City

It is quite the opposite on the other side of Florida where Orlando City are absolutely flying. They have only lost once all season which came at the Red Bull Arena which is often a tough place to go. They have won five and drawn three of their other eight matches though and look like a team who are ready to go a long way this season. They go into this match off the back of a 5-0 thumping of San Jose Earthquakes which will have given them confidence.

When they went into the international break goals were a bit of a concern but coming out of it they have scored eight in their two matches and the return of Daryl Dike is clearly having a massive impact on that. There might be one or two question marks while Pedro Gallese is away about how they will do defensively but whether Inter Miami are the team to challenge that department remains to be seen. Orlando are certainly the more confident team heading into this one.

Betting

The three matches between these two were all won by the home side last season but this Inter Miami side isn’t going as well as that one was and Orlando City are going a whole lot better than they were last year, even though they made the play-offs come the end of the campaign. They have kicked on again and now that they have Daryl Dike back in their ranks they have the goal threat that perhaps they lacked at the start of the season.

All is clearly not right at Inter Miami at the minute. There appears to be a discipline issue at the club and in a local derby that is the last thing you need. Ryan Shawcross and Gregore are both suspended for this issue and there is a concern over Gonzalo Higuain too. Orlando City have no such issues and there is more than enough juice in the Asian line in their favour to merit a bet on them on the -0.25 line which protects half of our stake in case this does end in a draw.
