Big Matches

The big match of the night is the repeat of the 2020 MLS Cup final as the Columbus Crew host the Seattle Sounders with the visitors looking to extract some revenge for losing that final. When they are done the leaders of the Eastern Conference, New England Revolution, will look to feast on a pretty poor FC Cincinnati outfit while at the same time the Hudson River derby will be taking place when the New York Red Bulls play host to New York City FC. The final televised match of the evening sees the Vancouver Whitecaps taking on Los Angeles FC in the Western Conference.

Best of the Rest

The action begins with Sporting Kansas City looking to move to the top of the Western Conference for a couple of hours at least when they head to Minnesota United. Supporters’ Shield holders Philadelphia Union will host CF Montreal looking to close in on New England Revolution in the Eastern Conference. Elsewhere DC United will take on Atlanta United while Inter Miami welcome Toronto FC to Florida. Orlando City take on Chicago Fire while in the West there is a Texas derby between the Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas. Austin FC take on Portland Timbers and the Colorado Rapids host Real Salt Lake.

Betting

I’ll go with just the one in the MLS on Saturday evening where Orlando City SC take on the Chicago Fire in a match where I’m expecting a home win. Orlando City generally play their home conditions well and have a good record at the Exploria Stadium. They have drawn their last three matches overall but a couple of those were on the road so I’m not going to hold that against them. They face a Fire side who have a terrible away record here though.

Chicago have only picked up one point on their travels all season which pretty much says everything we need to know about them when they leave Soldier Field. It has to be said they are one of the weaker sides in the competition anyway and not only do they struggle on the road in terms of picking up points, they barely score any goals either with just five in their seven matches, two of which came in defeat to Inter Miami recently. Orlando are much the better side of these two and given the respective home and away records I expect the men in purple to win this and win it well.
