Big Matches

The televised action runs throughout the evening for us in the UK as a couple of Eastern Conference clashes get us going when Chicago Fire take on the Philadelphia Union while the New York Red Bulls will look to take advantage of a potentially jaded Toronto FC team. When they are all done we have the next Canadian clash when the Vancouver Whitecaps host the Montreal Impact and then the televised matches conclude with a triple header where Orlando City host New York City FC. We then get the first ‘El Trafico’ of the season as LA Galaxy host their city rivals Los Angeles FC before the action concludes with the Colorado Rapids meeting Minnesota United.

Best of the Rest

Just the three matches take place away from UK TV stations and the first of those sees the champions in action when Columbus Crew meet DC United while Nashville SC host the New England Revolution in what could be a close match between two well drilled sides. The other one is from the Western Conference where FC Dallas take on their fellow Texan team Houston Dynamo in another decent looking match on what is a very appealing card.

Betting

I’ll go with a couple of bets over the course of the evening here. The first one comes in that Canadian clash at Rio Tinto Stadium where I expect goals between the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Montreal Impact. With the exception of the last game against the Columbus Crew, there have been goals galore in Montreal Impact matches this season while Vancouver are quite capable of getting involved in high scoring contests themselves. Three of the last four meetings between these two have had three or more goals and I sense a more offensive instinct about the Impact this term which should help with the goal scoring here. I like over 2.75 goals in this one.

I like the same bet later in the evening too where the Eastern Conference clash between Orlando City and New York City FC gets my attention. These are two more sides with an offensive outlook who look to be in good form this early in the season. I’ve expected NYCFC to be a lot more attack minded than they have been to date under Ronny Deila but it looks like that is about to come to fruition at last. Orlando like to play on the front foot as well so this is another match where I think the 2.75 goal line is a bit on the low side. I’ll take the over here too.
