MLS 2021 – Sunday 27th June Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The MLS weekend concludes once again on Sunday evening when the final four matches are played out. It has been a week with a lot of draws thus far but many of the sides on show will be looking for three points here rather than one.

Three of the four matches are live on TV for us in the UK to enjoy and as ever the one which isn’t live can be streamed via the bookmaker streaming service although on a school night you’ll need to brave being tired on Monday morning to watch all of them.

Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off and TV in brackets)

Atlanta United vs New York Red Bulls (20.30 – Sky Football)

New York City FC vs DC United (23.00 – Free Sports)

Austin FC vs Columbus Crew (01.00 – Free Sports)

FC Dallas vs New England Revolution (02.00)

Preview

The action begins with an Eastern Conference clash as Atlanta United will look to pick up a first win in five when they play host to a New York Red Bulls team who either win or lose this season and have lost more than they have won. The second game stays in the Eastern Conference when two sides who are going sneakily along inside the play-off places meet at the Red Bull Arena where New York City FC play host to DC United.

The final two matches both see Western Conference sides at home to Eastern Conference foes and the first of those involves the MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew who head to Texas to take on Austin FC in what is their second match inside their new home ground. The action concludes in Texas as well where bottom of the pile in the Western Conference, FC Dallas, play host to a surging New England Revolution who will look to move five points clear at the top of the Eastern Conference table once again.

Betting

There isn’t a massive amount that I like over the course of these four matches but I can’t let a level ball handicap on the champions Columbus Crew go unbacked. Admittedly they have only won one of their matches away from home this season but of their three defeats two of them were at New England Revolution and Philadelphia Union who are two of the better teams in MLS right now so they are not bad results.

They certainly don’t meet a top side here in Austin FC who are going the same way as many new franchises in this league and struggling somewhat. They came out of the blocks with two wins in their opening three matches but since then they are without a win in seven and have only scored two goals in that time. Only one of those goals have come in the last six matches so Austin FC have a bit of an issue to contend with here against a Columbus Crew side who are tough to break down at the best of times. The Crew have enough in them to find the net and one goal might well be enough to win this match.
