Preview

The action actually begins in the Western Conference which is unusual. It does so with the biggest match of the night as Minnesota United look to move back into the playoff places when they welcome the leaders Sporting Kansas City to town. SKC can go to within four points of securing the postseason bye with a win here. When they are done the Colorado Rapids will look to keep up their chance for that Western Conference bye when they travel to the Houston Dynamo. The Rapids would end the night level with SKC if the leaders lose and they win.

After that the attention turns to the Eastern Conference where Orlando City will look to give themselves some breathing space in the race for the playoffs when they host a Nashville SC side who are now just waiting for the postseason to come along. Philadelphia Union are guaranteed a playoff place but they will be eyeing up a first round home game. They will significantly boost their chances of getting that if they can see off a FC Cincinnati side who have lost 13 of their last 14 contests.

Betting

It is that final match which I like a bet from where a very good Philadelphia Union side could put FC Cincinnati to the sword. Cincinnati have lost their last 10 matches but in the last three they have shipped a pretty ridiculous 15 goals which makes me think the 3 goal line for this match isn’t high enough. Union are capable to putting any team to the sword at the Subaru Stadium least of all one who defensively at least look to have downed tools for the season.

To the credit of Cincinnati, they have scored seven goals in their last three matches, three of which came against Nashville in midweek. Nashville have the best defensive record in the league so that might be significant. It might be that now their season is done they are having a good go without fear. They might have some joy against the Union too. Philadelphia have conceded at least twice in three of their last four matches so there is enough to think we could be in for quite a high scoring game here regardless of which end they come.
