MLS 2021 – Tuesday 14th September Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

We have another midweek set of matches in the MLS 2021 season this week and they get underway with a three match card on Tuesday evening on a night where a number of chasers for the play-offs are in action.

One of the three matches will be live on TV for us to enjoy in the UK and it isn’t too late a start which is handy. The other two games will be able to be streamed with the bookmaker services so once again there is no to miss any of the action.

Columbus Crew vs New York Red Bulls (00.30)

Two sides who have been regulars in the postseason in the Eastern Conference but who are in danger of missing out completely this term battle it out on Tuesday evening when the reigning MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew host the New York Red Bulls.

This has been a wretched title defence for the Crew so far with injuries hampering them right throughout the campaign. At no stage have they been able to get any consistency going or build up a head of steam and as such they sit four points off the top seven. New York Red Bulls are in an even worse position as they are eight points off it although they have a couple of games in hand which could be significant. Neither of these teams are playing well enough to predict what might happen here so I’m happy to sit this one out.

New York City FC vs FC Dallas (00.30 – Free Sports)

The televised match of the night for us over in the UK sees New York City FC looking to end a two match losing streak when they welcome FC Dallas to Yankee Stadium in what is a huge match for both sides in their respective quests for the postseason.

New York City looked to be cruising into that stage of the competition but a couple of defeats have seen then slide back into the pack of teams that are yet to secure their spot. FC Dallas are chasing hard in the Western Conference and need a big finish to the season to overcome the four point gap between themselves and the play-offs. They will have it tough here though because NYCFC are very good on home soil. Their two recent defeats were away from home to sides above them in the Eastern Conference so they weren’t shocking results. City have won their last seven home matches whether here or at the Red Bull Arena and that includes a win over New England Revolution. Dallas aren’t the best travellers in the world with just two road wins all season, one of those against rock bottom Austin FC. I expect a comfortable New York win here.

Toronto FC vs Inter Miami (00.30)

The other match on the evening sees Toronto FC playing host to Inter Miami in a match between two sides who would have been expected to be in the top seven in the Eastern Conference but who in terms of the Canadians certainly won’t be.

Inter Miami still have a chance of making it to the postseason and a win here will actually move them into the play-off places for the first time this campaign. They have suddenly caught fire winning four of their last five and head across the border full of confidence. Toronto FC have been cut adrift at the bottom of the table but only New England Revolution have won on their soil since the Canadians were allowed to return home. If I was pushed to bet here I’d back Inter Miami but I’ll respect that BMO Field is a tough place to go and leave this match alone.
