MLS 2021 – Tuesday 17th August Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

There is a midweek round of matches in the MLS campaign this week and they begin on Tuesday evening when four sides from the Western Conference battle it out to try and enhance their position heading into the home stretch of the regular season.

We have one of the two matches on TV on Tuesday evening while the other one can always be viewed with the bookmaker streaming services but with both matches being from the Western Conference you may need to be an insomniac to watch them live.

San Jose Earthquakes vs Minnesota United (03.30 – Free Sports)

The televised match on Tuesday night comes from out in California where the San Jose Earthquakes welcome the Minnesota United to that part of the world for a match which sees two sides who are fighting hard for a berth in the top seven battling it out.

The Earthquakes head into this match in decent enough form in that they are undefeated in eight matches but they have only won two of those games so they need to find a way of converting those draws into wins if they are going to finish in the top seven at the end of the season. Minnesota have lost just two of their last 14 matches and are sitting inside the top seven and in a good position to launch a title burst from here on in so we should be in for a good game here. Historically when these two meet there are plenty of goals and I fancy we might see that trend continuing here. There have been three or more goals in the last eight matches between these two including in recent seasons a 5-2, a 4-1 and a 2-2. You wouldn’t want to rely on either of these defences to get the job done so I like over 2.5 goals here.

LA Galaxy vs Colorado Rapids (03.30)

The match which you will need to head to the bookmaker streams to watch in the UK also comes from California where LA Galaxy look to move to the top of the Western Conference for 24 hours at least when they host the Colorado Rapids, who sit fourth in the table themselves.

Both these sides have won four of their last five matches and already look like they will be in the postseason. The one thing to determine for both will be how well positioned they are when the play-offs come around. I think of the two you would say that LA Galaxy are the more reliable of the two, especially at home, but the Rapids have won their last two on the road and are a confident unit at the minute. I think this is one to watch and enjoy in the early hours rather than to bet on.
