Big Matches

We have both the Conference leaders on show on Saturday evening. The Western Conference leaders Los Angeles FC are the first to take to the pitch and they will be looking to open up a six point advantage at the top of the table when they go to an inconsistent Colorado Rapids. Top spot is up for grabs in the Eastern Conference when the top two meet as the Philadelphia Union play host to the New York Red Bulls. It could be that by the time that match kicks off Orlando City are top of the table. They will need to win away to Toronto FC in order for that to happen though.

Best of the Rest

Elsewhere there are some notable clashes taking place with the four sides in behind Los Angeles FC battling against each other. Fifth placed Real Salt Lake host second placed Austin FC in the earlier of those matches while the later one will see third placed LA Galaxy taking on fourth placed FC Dallas so it could be a pivotal night in the Western Conference. CF Montreal will be looking to build on their excellent start to the season when they head to the new boys Charlotte FC while FC Cincinnati will look to show that three wins in a spin is no fluke when they go up against Chicago Fire. The other match of note sees the last two MLS Cup champions colliding at Yankee Stadium when the reigning cup holders New York City FC play host to the team the took the crown off in Columbus Crew.

Betting

I’m not one for taking away sides in MLS but I do think Nashville SC are one of the travelling sides you can rely on. They started their season with eight successive away matches due to their home stadium being completed and picked up three creditable wins in those outings, away to Seattle Sounders, Columbus Crew and Sporting Kansas City, losing only at LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas, three of the top five teams in the league, two of whom play at fortress home grounds.

Houston Dynamo are nothing like the calibre of those teams and their home form isn’t exactly that special. They have only won twice at home this term but they have come against the San Jose Earthquakes and the Vancouver Whitecaps, two of the weaker sides in the Western Conference. Admittedly they have only lost once at home this term but that was one of only two matches they have played against teams who have started the season well. The other was a 0-0 draw with Real Salt Lake. There is the chance of a draw here but if there is a winner I think it will be the team with the better personnel which for me is Nashville SC.
