Big Matches

The televised action begins right from the off on Saturday evening when Minnesota United look to continue their good form as they take on a Houston Dynamo side who could be ripe for the taking for the Loons on current form. When they are down we switch to the Eastern Conference for the clash between the New York Red Bulls and Inter Miami, a particularly big one for the visitors. It is back to the Western Conference for the final TV offering as FC Dallas go up against Real Salt Lake, two sides who could easily meet again in the postseason.

Best of the Rest

The Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia Union will be looking to continue their march towards a first round bye in the play-offs when they play host to an inconsistent Colorado Rapids side. CF Montreal are the team looking to chase them down and if they are going to stay in that position they need to get the better of a trip to Chicago Fire. So many teams are chasing a top seven spot in the East and two of them meet in the latest Ohio derby as FC Cincinnati welcome Columbus Crew. Toronto FC are another and they simply have to win away to Charlotte FC who are another team in that fight. Over in the West the bottom two meet at Children’s Mercy Park where Sporting Kansas City host San Jose Earthquakes while Vancouver Whitecaps and Nashville SC round off the evening.

Betting

After a winner on Friday night I’m going to take another two bets over the course of Saturday evening with the focus very much on the Western Conference once again. The first bet comes in the form of Minnesota United to get the better of the Houston Dynamo. Minnesota begin this match on a run of one loss in 10 which came in Colorado where most teams fail to win so their form is very good. Houston to their credit nicked a draw in Colorado last week but their away form is little short of terrible overall and they don’t look to be a team who is improving. Minnesota have a hugely underrated attacking core at their disposal and will be looking to hold off the chasing pack in the race for a home match in the postseason. Houston head to Minny with one win in 10. Allianz Field is becoming a tough place for visiting teams to get anything from and I don’t see Houston bucking that trend.

The other bet I like comes in the obvious one of goals in the match between Sporting Kansas City and San Jose Earthquakes. Whenever these two sides play football be it against each other or other opponents goals are rarely short in supply but I expect them to be particularly free flowing in this one because SKC have finally found their scoring boots. A lot of their struggles earlier in the season was down to injuries but reinforcements signed in during the transfer window have beefed up their strike force and 11 goals in their last three matches tells its own story. San Jose saw off Los Angeles FC last week so they’ll head to Kansas City with their confidence restored and looking for more goals and another win. Between them these two have shipped 103 goals in MLS this term and I’m expecting at least another three to come along here.
