MLS 2022 – Sunday 13th March Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

An entertaining weekend in the MLS 2022 season draws to a close on Sunday evening when the final two matches in the third round of the campaign are played out as a couple of potential title challengers take to the pitch once again.

The second of the two matches will be live on TV in the UK and then the other one will be able to be viewed via the bookmaker streams as ever. With the clocks having gone forward in the States on Sunday morning both games are at a watchable time.

Atlanta United vs Charlotte FC (20.30)

The opening match of the night sees the former MLS Cup champions Atlanta United going up against the new boys into the league in the form of Charlotte FC, who are still looking for their opening points at this level and will hope it comes here.

After a couple of seasons in the doldrums, Atlanta United have made an up and down start to their season. They were winners in the opening week of the campaign but then had no answer for the Colorado Rapids last week. The home side will be expected to win this one while Charlotte FC are still finding their feet at this level. We have seen Charlotte lose both of their matches this term but in each of them there have been signs of a side who might well grow into being an acceptable one at this level. I still expect Atlanta to win at home but they are plenty short enough to do it so I’m happy to leave this one alone.

New York Red Bulls vs Minnesota United (23.00 – Free Sports)

The second match of the night sees a New York Red Bulls side who have started the season in very impressive form hosting a Minnesota United team who have a pair of draws to their name and will be looking to win for the first time this term.

I had a hunch that the Red Bulls would be good to watch this season and they haven’t let me down so far. Gerhard Struber had his Barnsley side playing nice football with youngsters who grow together, get around the pitch and look to play on the front foot, high in the opposition territory and that is exactly how New York Red Bulls have started the campaign. Minnesota United aren’t quite as aggressive in a press but they have some quality individuals who can play between the lines and do some damage. Neither of these sides have kept a clean sheet yet this season though and with the attacking players on show here I would be surprised if that trend is snapped in this one. The goal line is 2.5 in this match and I like the look of the over given the individual quality on show.
