MLS 2022 – Sunday 4th September Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The MLS weekend concludes on Sunday evening and with matches beginning to run low in the regular season there is plenty of importance on a fixture list which has some very good looking games on it.

Eight matches take place over the course of the night with three of them live on the TV for us who are in the UK to enjoy. Everyone will know by now that they are all available on the bookmaker streams but one or two are pretty early on Monday morning which isn’t ideal for those who have work that day!

Sunday’s fixtures are as follows: (UK kick off and TV in brackets)

Portland Timbers v Atlanta United (22.30 – Sky Football)

D.C. United v Colorado Rapids (00.30)

Toronto FC v CF Montréal (00.30)

LA Galaxy v Sporting Kansas City (01.00)

New England Revolution v New York City FC (01.00 – Free Sports)

Seattle Sounders FC v Houston Dynamo FC (02.00)

San Jose Earthquakes v Vancouver Whitecaps FC (02.30)

Los Angeles Football Club v Real Salt Lake (03.30 – Free Sports)

Big Matches

The televised action begins at Providence Park where two teams in opposite Conferences meet in a big clash for both as Portland Timbers, who currently occupy the last play-off spot, host Atlanta United who really need to go on a run if they are going to make the top seven. We then move onto the two Eastern Conference teams who lifted MLS silverware last term when the Supporters Shield winners New England Revolution take on the champions New York City FC before the current leaders in the race for that Shield, Los Angeles FC, take on Real Salt Lake.

Best of the Rest

There are five matches which aren’t on TV in the UK and one of them sees the two Canadian sides in the Eastern Conference meeting when Toronto FC, who really need a run themselves if they are going to make the top seven, host CF Montreal at BMO Field. DC United know they won’t be involved in the postseason and if they don’t win at Audi Field the Colorado Rapids won’t be either. One of the more exciting matches of the night comes from California where LA Galaxy host Sporting Kansas City while the other two matches sees Seattle Sounders hosting Houston Dynamo and the San Jose Earthquakes meeting the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Betting

I’ll go with one bet over the course of the night and it comes from the clash in the Western Conference where LA Galaxy will be keen to continue their good recent form as they push for a place in the play-offs. They are currently one spot outside the top seven but they do have games in hand and really need to be beating a Sporting Kansas City side who are playing for little other than pride and to spoil a few parties between now and the end of the campaign.

Kansas City have clearly freed up in recent weeks having won three of their last four matches. They are suddenly scoring goals again as well and although they won’t be around in the postseason, they will at least give themselves some confidence to go into next season with. Los Angeles matches have suddenly fit in with the crazy nature of matches in this league. There have been 26 of them in their last five games. There have been 21 in the last five SKC matches too and I’m expecting those totals to swell throughout this one.
