MLS 2022 – Thursday 30th June Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The midweek round of matches in the MLS concludes on Thursday night when two more games take place as four teams look to boost their form and league position heading into the second half of the regular season.

One of the two matches will be live on the free TV channel which covers the league while that and the other will be available to be streamed with the bookmakers. Neither of them are particularly late to start either which is handy.

Charlotte FC vs Austin FC (00.00)

The first of the two matches to kick off on Thursday evening sees the last two teams to join the league battling it out for the first time when Charlotte FC play host to an Austin FC side who have second place in the Western Conference in their sights.

Just a draw is all that the Texan side will need to return to second place in the table but you sense they will have their eyes on more than that against a Charlotte outfit who are missing a lot of players due to injury. Charlotte have a good home record though and that has to be respected but when you look deeper into that form, of their six home wins only the New York Red Bulls are in the top five of either Conference so you can pick holes in that form. Austin FC are one of the better away teams in the league with four wins from their eight road games with those wins coming at DC United, Houston Dynamo, Los Angeles FC and CF Montreal. The last two of those wins are good ones and any derby win is also to be savoured. When you consider that Austin are in much better shape with injuries which will allow them more room for rotation, and that the form of Charlotte can be questioned, I like the away side to avoid defeat here.

New York Red Bulls vs Atlanta United (01.00 – Free Sports)

The other match on Thursday evening sees two Eastern Conference sides going at it when the New York Red Bulls go up against Atlanta United with both teams looking to bounce back from tame defeats at the weekend.

The Red Bulls went to Los Angeles FC and were beaten. There is nothing wrong with that but the defeat of Atlanta in Toronto would be much more of a concern. I’d be more than happy to take Atlanta on here either at a better price or were we certain that Luquinhas is out of the league health and safety protocols but the price is pretty skinny if he isn’t around which puts me off. I certainly don’t want to be with Atlanta United on the road right now so until the Red Bulls team is announced I’m content to leave this one well alone.
