MLS 2022 – Tuesday 2nd August Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

We have midweek action in the MLS this week with half of the teams in the competition in action on a week which could be pivotal for a number of those involved. It all gets underway with a couple of matches on Tuesday evening, or the early hours of Wednesday for us in the UK.

Both these matches can be seen on the Free Sports channel in the UK although you’ll need to be something of an insomniac to watch the second one. Both games can also be viewed on the streaming services with the bookmakers.

New York Red Bulls vs Colorado Rapids (00.30)

The opening match of the evening sees the Eastern Conference team of New York Red Bulls playing host to the table toppers from the Western Conference last season in Colorado Rapids in an important match for both teams.

Colorado topped the West last term but have been nothing like as good or as consistent this season with just six wins from 21 games, all of which have come at home because despite playing 10 away games this term they are still looking for their first success. There was a stage this term where the Red Bulls were only able to pick up points on their travels but they have sorted out their home issues and have won three of their last four outings and suddenly look very good at Red Bull Arena. Red Bulls have won three of their last five MLS matches and shared a pitch with Barcelona at the weekend which will have been a big thing for their players. Colorado have just one win in their last eight matches and look to be fading rather than getting better. Red Bulls are definitely a team improving all the time and I expect them to come out on top here.

Seattle Sounders vs FC Dallas (03.00)

The other match comes in the Western Conference where Seattle Sounders, who have picked a bad time to go off the boil, look to get back on track when they welcome FC Dallas to Lumen Field for what is a big clash for the Champions League winners in particular.

Seattle go into this match off the back of four defeats in their last five matches and really need to win this. That run has seen them drop out of the top seven in the Western Conference and while this will be a good campaign regardless for Seattle, it will be dampened a little if they can’t make the postseason. Dallas have only lost one of their last five matches and that was against the champions New York City FC so they head to Seattle in decent enough form. I guess there is a case to be made for the visitors in this one but I’m reluctant to take on Seattle at home, especially when they really have to win. That said, I can cope without backing a team who have lost four of their last five so I’m happy to leave this one alone.
