Big Matches

The televised action begins in the Eastern Conference on Wednesday evening when New York Red Bulls look to move to the top of the table when they play host to a Chicago Fire side whose form has completely hit the buffers. At the same time, the Philadelphia Union will be looking to get back on top of the East themselves. They play host to Inter Miami who themselves have gone quiet again. The final TV game sees two of the top three in the Western Conference battling it out when Los Angeles FC play host to Austin FC in a juicy looking clash.

Best of the Rest

The champions New York City are in action on Wednesday evening when they head to the capital to take on a DC United side who have found their form of late. FC Dallas will hope Los Angeles FC don’t win later in the evening. Should they not then the Texans can end the night on top of the West if they can win on the road at Vancouver Whitecaps. There is an appealing Western clash between San Jose Earthquakes and Portland Timbers while Minnesota United go up against LA Galaxy. Houston Dynamo host Seattle Sounders and Sporting Kansas City take on Colorado Rapids. The only cross-conference battle of the night sees Nashville SC hosting CF Montreal, the Eastern leaders heading into the night.

Betting

I’m a little surprised that the goal line in the Sporting Kansas City and Colorado Rapids is 2.5 when you consider that Sporting Kansas City, who are anything but watertight this season at the best of times, have just shipped seven. What they lack at the back they generally make up for at home in front of goal and I would expect them to be stronger in terms of personnel than perhaps they planned to be as a result of that mauling at the weekend.

We’re still waiting for Colorado Rapids to put a team to the sword. It should have been on Saturday when they were all over LAFC but missed some ridiculous chances but someone is getting it soon and given how SKC are defending it can’t be ruled out here. We often see these midweek games catch fire with teams just going for it from the off in the hope of easing off later in the contest but with the quality of the attacking units on display here I expect goal chances throughout so I’m happy to take over 2.5.
