Big Matches

There are just two teams with a 100% record remaining in MLS this season and both are in the Western Conference and in action on Saturday. Los Angeles FC are one of those and they actually get the action underway when they head to Lumen Field to take on an ominously good Seattle Sounders side in the early kick off. The other perfect team are the expansion team St Louis City SC. They are at home in front of their passionate fans when they play host to fellow Western Conference side San Jose Earthquakes. Atlanta United are the current pacesetters in the Eastern Conference. They welcome a misfiring Portland Timbers side to Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Best of the Rest

Nashville SC and FC Cincinnati are both unbeaten in the Eastern Conference and both are on the road with the former heading to New England Revolution and the latter going to Soldier Field to take on Chicago Fire. Orlando City are also undefeated in MLS but are smarting from their Champions League exit in midweek. They will look to take out their frustration on Charlotte FC who are still looking for their first point of the season. Minnesota United are the other undefeated team in the Western Conference. They head on the road to face Colorado Rapids. There is a Texas showdown as Houston Dynamo host Austin FC while LA Galaxy host a Vancouver Whitecaps who will be looking to celebrate their Champions League progression.

Betting

This has not been the start to the season that the Colorado Rapids would have wanted but I think they can get their campaign on track on Saturday when they host a Minnesota United side who historically don’t travel well but who are having to transition their game at the minute. That is because it looks like Emanuel Reynoso is a thing of the past for the Loons. They completed less than 50% of their passes in their draw against New York Red Bulls last week and if that trend continues that could be an issue here.

We are at altitude in Denver here so the last thing you need is to be giving the ball away and chasing it around all night. Colorado haven’t just failed to win in MLS yet this season, they haven’t scored yet but it is clear that they are looking to keep the ball more and work it through the lines and with the attacking talent on their roster it can only be a matter of time before things click in front of goal for them. Colorado have won the last five meetings between these two at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and with Minnesota lacking that midfield playmaker I think the Rapids can win this one too.
