MLS 2025 – Friday 4th July Matches Tips and Betting Preview

Independence Day in the United States brings us a triple header of action in the MLS 2025 season with six Western Conference sides battling it out for what could be a valuable three points ahead of the remainder of the weekend.

As will be the case all weekend, the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV will have full coverage of all three matches but the bookmaker live streams will also show the games live, however you need to be a night owl to watch all of the action.

FC Dallas vs Minnesota United (01.45)

The opening match of the night takes us to Toyota Stadium where an inconsistent FC Dallas side go up against a Minnesota United outfit who will be looking to maximise their third place position and potentially improve on it as they seek to really challenge for the Western Conference title this term.

Both of these teams have been involved in some high scoring matches in recent times and it would be no surprise if on a holiday day we see more goals here as both teams look to go out and entertain. The goal line for this one is sat at three which feels more based on the Minnesota reputation than anything because four of the last five Dallas matches have had at least five goals in them while the last four Minnesota matches have had four or more goals over the course of the 90 minutes. A year ago these two played out a 5-3 win for FC Dallas so they are no strangers to goals and I’ve got to be on the over here.

Colorado Rapids vs Sporting Kansas City (02.30)

The second match to kick off on the night does so at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park where Colorado Rapids so in search of a three points which would consolidate their spot in the playoff places when they host a Sporting Kansas City side who are after them to try to force their way into them.

The first thing to say about these two teams is that neither of them are particularly consistent and that is an issue when predicting what could happen here. Usually you would say that the altitude factor will be a positive for the Rapids but that hasn’t really been the case this year. The other thing would be that SKC being away through time zones on a Friday night is sometimes an issue but with this being their first away game in the better part of four weeks I wouldn’t even say that is a problem. With all that in mind, I’m happy to leave this one alone and use it as a watching brief rather than a betting one.

LA Galaxy vs Vancouver Whitecaps (03.30)

The final match of the night takes us over to California where the champions LA Galaxy will go in search of just a second win of the campaign when they host a Vancouver Whitecaps side who will go back to the top of the Western Conference table with a win here.

This is the second visit to Los Angeles in five days for the Whitecaps after they were able to beat LAFC across the city on Sunday night and another win here will really have them as back after a bit of a dodgy June which saw them wiped out in the Champions Cup final and lose their way a bit with injuries and international call ups in the latter part of the month. Those players are beginning to return now though and Vancouver looked back to normal in the win over LAFC earlier in the week, which is exactly what LA Galaxy don’t look. Never before have I seen a team fall apart after the injury to one man but that is the case with the Galaxy without Riqui Puig and in truth there aren’t many signs that they are going to be one of the better sides in the league. Initially I wasn’t lining this up for a bet but I can’t ignore getting a 0.25 goal start on the Whitecaps here. LA Galaxy have won one match all season and at the very worst this should be a draw no bet line. It probably should be Vancouver as slight favourites but I’ll gladly have them as underdogs.
