Big Matches
In terms of the race for top spot in the MLS this season three matches leap off the Saturday card. The big match of the night comes from Chase Stadium where a Lionel Messi-less Inter Miami host FC Cincinnati looking for revenge for a 3-0 defeat just over a week ago. Shortly after that kicks off, the Philadelphia Union will look to maintain their position in the Supporters’ Shield race if not enhance it when they host the Colorado Rapids. Vancouver Whitecaps are the other team on the scene in that battle and they round off the night when they host Sporting Kansas City.
Best of the Rest
Charlotte FC are showing good form again and they will be looking for another three points when they welcome Toronto FC to the Bank of America Stadium. Seattle Sounders are another side who are looking for a lofty position in their Conference table and they make the trip to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to take on Atlanta United while Minnesota are also looking to finish high up and get a home match in the playoffs. They make the trip to St Louis City while two entertaining sides battle it out when Real Salt Lake host San Jose Earthquakes. The other match of note comes from the Eastern Conference where Chicago Fire take on New York Red Bulls at Soldier Field.
Betting
I was hoping to really get stuck into this card but a couple of the fancied home teams are a little too short or a handicap line too short for comfort so in the end I have had to lower my expectations and allow myself just the one bet where I am comfortable with what is on offer. That comes in the form of the goals in the match between Atlanta United and Seattle Sounders where I’m a little surprised that the goal line is only 3.
Atlanta aren’t playing for anything in MLS now but they will want a crack at Leagues Cup so they will be looking to build some confidence here while Seattle are after three points to consolidate their top four in the west hopes. The last four Atlanta matches in this building have had more than three goals in them while Seattle head east off the back of two 3-2s and a 3-3 in their last three matches. Seattle are wobbling defensively but they have plenty of quality going forward. Atlanta do too so over 3 goals here looks a solid play.
