The MLS 2025 weekend has been severely reduced because of the international football but we still have a double header of action on Saturday night where two teams in each conference battle it out for another three points.
As is the case throughout the campaign, both of the matches will have full coverage on the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV for those who subscribe to it but those who don’t will be able to watch them via the bookmaker live streams.
DC United vs Chicago Fire (00.30)
The opening match of the night comes from the Eastern Conference where two sides currently residing well below the playoff places battle it out when DC United play host to Chicago Fire with both teams eager for the three points.
Chicago are keeping hold of the tails of the top nine and have matches in hand so this is a much bigger match for DC United who have fallen off the pace for the playoffs and don’t have matches in hand. They have really suffered with the absence of Christian Benteke. Any team would be troubled by the loss of the Golden Boot winner from the previous season but they scored a couple of goals in Cincinnati last week and will face a Chicago side missing their first-choice goalkeeper and a starting defender as they are on international duty. DC themselves miss a couple of starting defenders as they are away with their countries so there is every reason to expect a high scoring game, especially with Chicago on Fire if you pardon the pun away from home, from a scoring perspective at least. They have scored twice or more in seven of their nine away games this term and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they score a brace here against a DC defence which isn’t fantastic when everyone is fit. Both attacking units face weakened defences here so given that the two have already played out a 2-2 draw this season, taking over 3 goals makes a lot of sense here.

Colorado Rapids vs Austin FC (02.30)
The second match of the night sends us to the Western Conference where two more teams who are nowhere near high enough up their respective table for their liking meet when the Colorado Rapids host Austin FC at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
The Rapids have struggled for a bit of consistency this season but injuries have really hurt them and they are still without a few key players too many for my liking. Austin FC might actually be the biggest disappointments of the campaign so far where their goal output, which is absolutely terrible, is really holding them back. That shouldn’t be the case when they break their club record to bring an elite level number nine into the club prior to the year but 11 goals from 17 matches for the whole team just isn’t going to cut it. I would be surprised if Colorado don’t win this match but at the prices I’m not really rushing to go in. They are 4-2-2 at home and have the altitude advantage on their side but Austin can be hard to break down and I think the draw is a huge runner here so I’ll sit this one out and just carry the opening game bet through the night.
