MLS 2025 – Sunday 2nd March Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The second week of the MLS 2025 season concludes on Sunday night when two more matches are played out on what has already been an enjoyable weekend in the competition as we continue to work out how the 30 teams in the league are looking.

As always, both of these matches will be live and in full via the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV with the second game coming in the Sunday Night Football show which has an hour long build-up. Bookmaker live streams will show both fixtures too.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs LA Galaxy (22.00)

The opening match of the night takes us across the border into Canada for the clash between the Vancouver Whitecaps and the champions LA Galaxy, two teams who had very different starts to their campaign last weekend.

The Whitecaps went to Portland and did a demolition job on their Cascadia Cup rivals and then turned their Champions Cup tie around in midweek whereas the Galaxy began their title defence with a defeat to San Diego FC in what was a tame and timid display from the champions. Both these teams have Champions Cup assignments in midweek which could be significant here. You would imagine that Vancouver would have to rotate anyway having only come through their game on Thursday night but the Galaxy haven’t won MLS Cup to then not turn up in the Champions Cup so they might also keep one or two back for midweek. Teams who appeared in the Champions Cup are 2-1-2 so far this weekend and one of the wins was against another team involved in that competition so that puts me off taking the Whitecaps here but I saw nothing from the Galaxy last week to lure me in so I’ll leave this one alone.

Houston Dynamo vs Inter Miami (00.00)

The final game of the weekend will be the Sunday Night Football out in the States and it takes us to Texas for the clash between the Houston Dynamo and a much-fancied Inter Miami outfit, with both sides looking for their first win of the new campaign.

Houston were beaten at home last week so they will be looking to make up for that here while Miami head to Texas with a point in their locker after an eventful clash against New York City FC eight days ago. Miami have been involved in Champions Cup action since then and they successfully navigated their tie against Sporting Kansas City which will have boosted confidence here. Miami have the next stage of their Champions Cup exploits in midweek and rumours are that as a result of that Lionel Messi has been left at home and you wonder if any other star names will be left out here. Dynamo will probably hope so because I have these as one of the weaker sides in the MLS this season, particularly if they don’t get much of an output out of Ezequiel Ponce up top. Houston lost a large chunk of the midfield which made them the side they have been over the last couple of seasons and that concerns me. The signs are that this isn’t going to be a completely full strength Miami side and whoever takes the field I think this is a win and get out of here job rather than a look fantastic one. After last week Houston will just want to stay tight and try and get something from the game so while an under 2.75 goal line bet wouldn’t interest me in too many Inter Miami matches, this is one where it does.
