NatWest T20 Blast – Sunday 26th June Matches Betting Preview

The final two NatWest T20 Blast matches of the weekend take place on Sunday afternoon with a match from each group which will have further impacts on both tables as we move into the second half of the competition.

In the South Group Sussex play host to Gloucestershire while two former winners collide at Wantage Road where Northamptonshire host the most decorated T20 side in the country in the form of Leicestershire. Neither match is on TV due to the ODI getting the TV honours.

Sussex vs Gloucestershire

Two sides already in the qualification places meet at Arundel on Sunday afternoon with both looking to move up to second in the table should they win the game. Sussex have played fewer matches than any other team in the group with just six games and two of those have been washed out. Gloucestershire have played seven matches and have four wins in that time.

Sussex go into this match without Chris Jordan who has been a real star for them as you would expect while David Wiese has left and Mustafizur Rahman is no nearer arriving. Ross Taylor missed the Championship match with a hamstring injury this week and it is hard to see him being risked here if he has a problem with that so Sussex are a bit light here.

Gloucestershire have no injury problems and unlike Sussex who have played the last four days in a Championship match they have had their feet up after Saturday’s game at Hampshire was washed out. Gloucestershire certainly go into this match as the fresher side which could count for something.

When these two met in Bristol on the opening night of the tournament Sussex ran up a monster score but when the rain came Gloucestershire were only one run behind the DLS so they might have chased it down. There is likely to be no Ross Taylor for this match so Gloucestershire have a lot going for them and they have my money at 6/5 too.

Northamptonshire vs Leicestershire

Second placed Northants host seventh placed Leicestershire here and if the Foxes are to realistically get out of the group this is a match they need to win. A sizeable win for Northants could send them top of the group.

Northants go into this match off the back of four tough days at Arundel and that is never easy so Leicestershire definitely have the better of the scheduling but in truth I’m in no rush to back them in their current form in this competition especially now that Niall O’Brien has been ruled out with injury and Umar Akmal is on his way to the Caribbean Premier League.

I like Northants here but with all their injuries I don’t like them enough to back them at a very cramped price so I’ll sit this one out and focus all my betting attentions on Gloucestershire on Sunday.
