NFL 2018 – Cleveland Browns @ Denver Broncos Betting Preview

The second half of the Saturday night double header in the NFL sees two sides not really going too far in the AFC doing battle when the Denver Broncos face up to the Cleveland Browns at Mile High Stadium.

The Broncos could still make the postseason if they win each of their last three matches but they would need other results to go their way. Cleveland will be looking to cap off an improved season with a couple more wins before it ends.

Denver Broncos

At 6-7 for the campaign nobody can argue that it has been a good season for the Denver Broncos so far but it can be turned into one if they can win their last three matches. The form of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers has left Denver need snookers from an early stage. To be fair to them they won three on the trot prior to last week but there was a sense of that being pressure free football.

When the tension rose last week as they got themselves in a position where they controlled their own destiny, they were found wanting a little bit and so they will need to get back to doing what they do best here. The concern over the Broncos is whether they have it in them to score points regularly. This is a point scoring league now.

Cleveland Browns

It has been a much improved season for the Cleveland Browns. To be fair it would have been difficult for it not to be an improvement on the last two but I think it is fair and right to acknowledge the level of improvement they have shown. Having a quarterback that they can rely on to make plays as helped while the insane number of draft picks they had built up made it almost impossible for them not to have got better at some point.

Baker Mayfield has made a huge difference to this side while the Browns defence in the main this term has been competitive if not elite. The Browns have been involved in a number of close matches this season so had they held their nerve a little bit better they could even have been in contention for the playoffs which would have been remarkable.

Betting

I hate backing sides who struggle to score points in this league these days and there is no doubt that the Denver Broncos have got issues in that department. If there is any pressure on either side here then it is on the Broncos and we saw last week that they don’t cope with that particularly well so I like the Cleveland Browns here.

Sometimes solid and unspectacular will get the job done but Mayfield has the potential to be more than that and I think with relatively little pressure on his shoulders he and his Cleveland teammates can put the final nail in the Broncos coffin for this season. At odds against I like the Browns in this one.
