NFL 2018 – Kansas City Chiefs @ Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview

The Monday Night Football this week is the biggest match of the season so far when two 9-1 sides meet as the Los Angeles Rams host the Kansas City Chiefs. This match was scheduled for Mexico but has been moved back to Los Angeles due to the awful pitch at the Azteca.

Both teams are in complete control of their division and are chasing the number one seeds in their Conferences. With that in mind this is probably a bigger match for the Rams than it is for the Chiefs but it is massive either way.

Los Angeles Rams

After losing their undefeated record two weeks ago the Los Angeles Rams picked up where they left off prior to that loss when they came past the Seattle Seahawks in another high scoring encounter last week. They go into their bye week after this match so they can give this their all in a clash which could very well be the Super Bowl in three months.

The Rams are all about their offense with Todd Gurley the star of the show but Jared Goff is linking up nicely with the likes of Brandin Cooks. Cooper Kupp’s injury could be an issue offensively but that may only slow them down slightly rather than stop them. The Rams are excellent up front but they can be exposed in the back field.

Kansas City Chiefs

Only the New England Patriots have beaten the Kansas City Chiefs this season and they had to put up more than 40pts to do so. Patrick Mahomes has been a revelation this term but he has been well supported by a number of exceptional playmakers on offense. That offense will need to come to the party here you would think.

The Chiefs defence has been hit by injuries all season but if they can find a couple of plays in them here then that could be the difference between winning and losing. Special teams could also make a difference here so Tyreeq Hill could be another key player for the AFC West champions in waiting. Kareem Hunt is another one.

Betting

Clearly the offenses are going to be on top in this match. Both are extremely dynamic and have too many playmakers to cover all of them all of the time. If that isn’t enough of a problem for both defences then both quarterbacks can make plays with their legs too so I don’t see how this doesn’t become an offensive shootout.

Given all of that I think over 7.5 touchdowns is the way to go here. I was tempted by the points even though it is a massive line but I’m not sure we’ll see much in the way of field goals given the shootout nature of this match. Eight touchdowns is perfectly achievable with the offenses we are seeing. I think over 7.5 is the way forward in this one.
