NFL 2018 – Los Angeles Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview

There are now just three weeks remaining in the NFL regular season and the first of those begins with an absolutely blockbuster of a match on the Thursday Night Football when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Los Angeles Chargers in a huge AFC West clash.

The Chiefs go into the contest with a one win lead over the Chargers in the division and while both will be playing football in January, the division title could hinge on the outcome of this contest so at this stage of the campaign this is massive.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs go into this match with an 11-2 record with their only two losses coming on the road to New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams and there is no shame in either of those losses. At Arrowhead Stadium they have been near perfect, piling up points on everyone and winning matches whether in blowouts or shootouts.

Their campaign has been all about the form, potential and outstanding ability of quarterback Patrick Mahomes but he will be the first to appreciate the work players like Tyreeq Hill, Travis Kelce and Kareem Hunt had put in prior to the controversial exit of the latter recently. If the Chiefs defence ever come to the party they will be some football team.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers are having an outstanding season themselves with a 10-3 record but two of their three losses have come in the division which might not help them overtake Kansas City between now and the end of the campaign. They have only lost one of their last 10 matches though but it was a one point loss to the Denver Broncos which could be costly when the final totals are tallied up.

Since that defeat they have won three on the spin, all high scoring and a couple of them without Melvin Gordon but he has had a limited practice in the lead up to this match and could feature. It would be a major boost if he is fit as the Chargers will be down to their third choice back if he is missing. That would pile the pressure on Philip Rivers.

Betting

Injuries look set to play a big role for both sides heading into this match and while Spencer Ware is not expected to play for the Kansas City Chiefs, Tyreeq Hill is. Melvin Gordon could feature for the Los Angeles Chargers but it feels wrong to bet on the match outcome without official confirmation.

If the running backs do miss out we could see the ball in the air a fair bit in this match which would bring the over 6.5 touchdowns bang into play. Both these teams know where the end zone is and given the Chargers’need for a victory I would hope they will come out and take the game to the Kansas City defence. If they do we should be in for an end-to-end game and one which yields seven touchdowns at the very least.
