NFL 2018 – New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview

The final match in what is a busy Sunday in the NFL comes with the New York Giants heading to the Dallas Cowboys in the latest instalment of the biggest rivalry in the NFC East in the Sunday Night Football.

Both sides suffered defeats last week which has piled the pressure on this match for the pair of them. They never want to lose to each other anyway but whoever does lose will be swimming against the tide even this early in the season.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys went to Carolina Panthers last week and were well beaten and they will be out to avoid a repeat here. They never really got going on the offensive side of the ball which is something they will definitely want to improve on here and to be fair they weren’t fantastic defensively either.

In fairness a defeat on the road to Carolina is not going to define the season for the Dallas Cowboys but this match certainly will so they will need to be at their best. They will need to find a way to bring Ezekiel Elliott into the game while they will need to be at their best defensively to stop Saquon Barkley as well.

New York Giants

I would imagine the Giants are still wondering how they were beaten by the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. The truth is in the big moments they couldn’t quite make the play they needed to and in the end the Jaguars defence got their side home but there were positives, as well as a few negatives, to take from the match for the Big Blue.

The Giants defence performed pretty well last week, limiting the Jacksonville offense to just 305 yards of total yardage. In the main they protected Eli much better which was a positive but the lack of points and scoring potential in the red zone was definitely a concern. They need to be more clinical on their drives to come out on top here.

Betting

I’ll take a couple of bets in this one with the under in the points being a pretty obvious bet. Both sides sailed safely under the points line last week and I’m expecting a lot of running the ball and defences having the better of things here. Both their meetings last year were low scoring and I saw nothing last week to suggest much will change. When we factor in the size of the match I’m expecting the scoring to remain low here. Under 42.5pts looks a good thing here.

Cole Beasley looks to be Dak Prescott’s number one target these days. He caught for 73 yards from seven catches in Carolina last week and three catches yielded 31 yards in his only preseason outing. Beasley has a receiving yards line of 38.5 yards which looks low enough to me given that he seems to be the main man in Bryant’s absence even with the signing of Hurns.
