Another week of NFL action concludes as ever with the Monday Night Football and the big game this week comes from Lambeau Field where two NFC sides meet as the Green Bay Packers play host to the San Francisco 49ers.

Green Bay Packers
I guess on the face of it a couple of wins, a tie and a couple of losses is not a disaster of a start to the campaign but when you factor in that Green Bay needed a once in a lifetime comeback to defeat the Chicago Bears and were solid if unspectacular against the Buffalo Bills there is a clear need for improvement.
The Packers go into this match off the back of a resounding defeat to the Detroit Lions last week in which Mason Crosby had a kicking game to forget. We are used to seeing a flawless Green Bay offense but with Aaron Rodgers’ injury they have not been firing fully on that side of the ball. That will need to change if they are to make the playoffs.
San Francisco 49ers
There was a lot of optimism around the San Francisco 49ers heading into the campaign after the way they ended the previous season under the talented quarterback play of Jimmy Garropolo but his season ending injury has stunted all of that, and you now get the impression that this could be a year of struggle for the California based outfit.
In the past one of the strengths of the 49ers side has been their defence but they are ranked in the bottom ten in that discipline this season although more recently they have managed to contain the opposition running game. The lack of a potent pass rush can leave them exposed in the backfield though and that is a huge concern going into this one.

Betting
It would be right to acknowledge that Aaron Rodgers has not had this Green Bay Packers offense firing how it can do but I fancy that might be about to change. Rodgers can be devastating when he is given time in the pocket to make plays and that is what he is likely to get in this match.
The question then becomes can the Green Bay defence contain the run game of the San Francisco 49ers. If they can you would think at Lambeau Field on primetime the home side will run out comfortable winners against a team who are not going to blow them away with a barrage of big plays.
