NFL 2018 – Week 2 Sunday Early Games Betting Preview

The bulk of the matches from Week 2 of the NFL season take place on Sunday with various games over the usual two early kick off times and among them we have a couple of tasty looking contests to enjoy.

There are divisional battles, previous play-off tussles and some explosive encounters on the schedule with 13 matches being played in the early game time in total. Two of them are on TV in the UK and there are loads of other ways to keep up with the other games.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

The TV game for those of us in the UK comes from Heinz Field where the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Kansas City Chiefs with both sides wanting a win there. Elsewhere we have a quadruple set of divisional clashes with Atlanta Falcons hosting Carolina Panthers in the NFC South while Minnesota Vikings head to Green Bay Packers in the NFC North. The New York Jets face up to the Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium in the AFC East and over in the AFC South the Tennessee Titans take on the Houston Texans.

There are plenty of other matches in the early kick off slate with Buffalo Bills looking to make up for their horror show last week when they entertain the Los Angeles Chargers while Cleveland Browns will look to build on their tie last week when they head to New Orleans to take on the Saints. Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the champions Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins go up against the Indianapolis Colts.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

There are four matches in this slot on Sunday with the main one being a repeat of the NFC Championship game from last season as the New England Patriots head to Florida to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in what is the TV match in this set of games in the UK.

Two division battles will keep us entertained elsewhere as the Los Angeles Rams host the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West while in the AFC West the Denver Broncos take on the Oakland Raiders. The other match sees the Detroit Lions heading to San Francisco to take on the 49ers.

Betting

There are three bets I like the look of over the course of these matches with the first one coming at Lambeau Field where I think the Minnesota Vikings can cover a 2.5pt handicap. Were it not for the Aaron Rodgers reputation then I would expect the Vikings to be asking to cover at least a touchdown here but even then Rodgers is questionable for this one. I’ve no doubt he’ll play but it might not take much for him to be removed from the game and even then the Vikings defence are good enough to make plays against him. We saw last week that there is a lot to like about Minnesota at the minute and I expect them to waltz into Lambeau and leave with a win by at least a field goal.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers put up an inordinate amount of points on the New Orleans Saints, surprising most before them in the process but they’ll struggle to do that to the Philadelphia Eagles defence which is very strong. The Eagles are no slouches on offense either though and with the benefit of the extra three days to rest and prepare I expect the champions to come out all guns blazing here. With the weapons at the disposal of Nick Foles and the defence alongside him Philly should cover a field goal here.

There were a lot of problems for the Detroit Lions on Monday night and the worst part of it was that Matt Stafford already looked to be banged up. San Francisco 49ers lost their opening match but they had a right good go at the Minnesota Vikings and take nothing but praise in defeat. That was the first loss Jimmy Garropolo has suffered as a 49er but I don’t expect another here. San Fran ran the ball well last week and Garropolo showed he has more than enough weapons in the passing game to tuck in here and come out with the win against a Lions side who may need more than six days to sort out the weaknesses the Jets exposed in the opening week.

Week 2 accumulator

Once again we will endeavour to cover all bases and throw up an accumulator for those who love to shove Redzone on and watch all the action unfold. Last week’s one turned out to be terrible so we’ll hope for better this week.
