NFL 2019 – Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars Tips and Betting Preview

The third week of the NFL season kicks off with another divisional battle as the Tennessee Titans head to the Jacksonville Jaguars in an AFC South showdown which could have big implications on the division even this early in the season.

I think it is fair to say that neither side have made the start to the season they would have hoped so already there is a fair bit of pressure on both of them heading into the opening match of week three. Defeat would leave whoever loses behind the eight ball.

Jacksonville Jaguars

All eyes will be on one man for the Jacksonville Jaguars in this match and that is cornerback Jalen Ramsey who has been in the news recently for wanting a trade. It will be interesting to see how much he is used in this match with all this going on, and if he is used it will be worth looking to see how well he plays. The other thing to watch out for is the rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew. He didn’t really hit the ground running last week and the pressure of primetime might be tough to control.

The Jaguars go into this match off the back of successive defeats and so it is vital that they get on the board here. To be fair there wouldn’t have been many would have expected them to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the first week of the season but they would have been given a chance against the Houston Texans last week, although the injury to Nick Foles ahead of that game probably put a spanner in those works.

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans have already got one win under their belts this season when they did an absolute demolition job on the Cleveland Browns but they came back down to earth last week when they were beaten by the Indianapolis Colts and they will not want to go 0-2 in the division so this is a big game for them too. A win here will have them looking forward and challenging for the AFC South title again.

In order for that win to come about you would think the Titans are going to have to feed Derrick Henry and keep on feeding him. He had a breakout game against the Jaguars last season and with Marcus Mariota dividing opinion at the present time, he would look to be their best threat. The Titans defence had a day out on the opening week of the season and the challenge is for them to repeat that form here.

Betting

Given that neither quarterback is particularly inspiring at the minute you would expect there to be a lot of running the ball in this match. That is fine but you’ve got to think both defensive coordinators will be fully aware of that game plan and structure their defence accordingly so this could be a very tough match to score points in. With that in mind I’m a little surprised that the point line is up at 39.5 with a decent price. I’m more than happy to take the under on that line.

I’ll also have a little pop on no touchdown as well. 66/1 is a fair enough price in what should be a tight and defensive battle. Both teams will rely on their running back but whether they can punch a good drive into the end zone remains to be seen. It might be that defensive scores are the bigger danger. Either way I’ll pay to see how deep into proceedings we go without a touchdown in the hope we get all the way to the final hooter.
