NFL 2019 – Week 15 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

Week 15 of the NFL season began with a high scoring encounter on Thursday night and the entertainment should keep on coming on Sunday, when the bulk of this set of games are played over the usual two kick off slots.

Divisional titles and this ever intriguing race for the wildcard spots in both Conferences are in the spotlight on a night where as ever there are a couple of TV games this side of the pond, and the Red Zone coverage for the rest.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

The fascinating race for the AFC South title is the central spotlight of the early game coverage as the Tennessee Titans play host to the Houston Texans with both sides going into the game with 8-5 records and so whoever wins will take charge in the division. That is the TV game in this slot There are a whole bunch of divisional battles elsewhere too with the Washington Redskins hosting the Philadelphia Eagles while the Kansas City Chiefs host the Denver Broncos in another game. The Green Bay Packers welcome the Chicago Bears to Lambeau Field in the other.

Elsewhere two of the worst teams in the league meet at the MetLife Stadium when the New York Giants host the Miami Dolphins while two other sides with losing records meet in the Motor City as the Detroit Lions take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Two of the better teams in the league are in action in the other two matches as the New England Patriots head to the Cincinnati Bengals and the Carolina Panthers host the Seattle Seahawks in a juicy looking battle.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (9.05/9.25pm UK time)

Plenty of issues are at stake in the televised match in this kick off spot on Sunday night and on the TV this side of the pond we’ll see the bigger stories as the Dallas Cowboys host the Los Angeles Rams in a match that both sides need to win. Dallas need to win to maintain their advantage in the chase for the NFC East title while there is a queue of teams in and around the Los Angeles Rams in the race for a wildcard spot for the NFC playoffs.

One of those sides in front of the Rams are the San Francisco 49ers and they welcome the Atlanta Falcons to the Bay. The Minnesota Vikings are another and they head for a clash with the Los Angeles Chargers while in the other two matches the Oakland Raiders take on the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Arizona Cardinals go up against the Cleveland Browns in what are low key battles with all four sides out of genuine postseason contention.

Betting

I’ll go with three bets over the course of Sunday evening with the first one coming in that huge clash in the AFC South where I think the Houston Texans can stay within 3.5pts of the Tennessee Titans in a match I expect to be very tight and played at playoff intensity given what is on the line. It might be that the losers make it through as a wildcard but the lure of hosting a playoff match is massive and the winners here will be bang on target to do that. Tennessee are on a fantastic run at present but it wasn’t so long ago the Houston Texans were nullifying the New England Patriots. This one is set up to be a cracker and I don’t think it will be won by a lot. Houston with the 3.5 start looks the way forward to me.

The other two bets come in the second session of action where I’m expecting a lower scoring contest between the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Rams than what the bookmakers are. I say that because this is huge for both teams so I really expect the Rams defence to come to the party and the Dallas offense isn’t exactly firing consistently anyway. If Dallas are going to win this their own defence is going to need to be counted once again. The win is all that counts here and both sides run the ball effectively which should take care of the clock nicely. I’m not convinced we’ll be getting more than 49.5pts here.

I also think the Minnesota Vikings can get the better of the Los Angeles Chargers. I accept Minnesota haven’t been amazing on the road this season but they are a better team than the Chargers and I expect them to show that in this contest. The Chargers don’t lose by many when they do lose but they are beaten too often for my liking. Whether it is through their better defence, their elite running back or the quarterback and passing play of Kirk Cousins, I fancy the Vikings to keep up their pursuit of a wildcard spot with a win here.
