NFL 2020 – Buffalo Bills @ Tennessee Titans Tips and Betting Preview

There isn’t too many benefits to come out of the Covid-19 pandemic but NFL fans get a bonus on Tuesday because of it as there is one match in the league to be played out when two undefeated sides battle it out as the Tennessee Titans host the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills are already safely ahead in the AFC East but have the chance to stamp their authority all over the division. The Titans are also already in front in the AFC South but haven’t played as many matches as the Bills have in theirs. A win here gives them a significant advantage in the division.

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans have played three matches and won them all but critics will argue that they haven’t been completely convincing in those games. The three wins have all been good but they have come at a combined margin of just six points so they have shown a good ability to hold their nerve under pressure and a team can never be knocked for winning matches. The other concern would be that the three teams the Titans have beaten all have a losing record but again you can only beat what is in front of you.

The last two wins have been high scoring and that might well be a trend that continues although the Titans haven’t played for more than two weeks and have had plenty of Covid issues so just how well prepared they will be for this match remains to be seen. A lot of the Titans offense comes through Derrick Henry but he is up against a good rush defence here so it will be interesting to see if he can get the job done here.

Buffalo Bills

There has been a lot of talk about the undefeated record of teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks as well as the perceived top class acts such as Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens to the extent that you could be forgiven for thinking that the Bills are having a terrible season. In reality it is anything but that and actually they deserved to be in any of those conversations, especially having proved their worth last season.

Buffalo have been a high scoring team this season which is a little bit of a surprise, even though it is in keeping with the way the league has gone this term. We became used to them riding a solid defence last term but Josh Allen has improved no end since last season, admittedly helped by some fearsome weapons. If a period of inactivity hasn’t halted their momentum, the Bills look like they are going to be a tough side to stop.

Betting

Clearly there is a fair bit of guessing about how this match will go that needs to be done, primarily around what shape the Tennessee Titans will be in not just in terms of line up but preparation and fitness. That might lead many to getting on the Buffalo Bills and while I would probably favour them to win the match we shouldn’t forget that if the Titans are bang on it here they are more than a match for the Bills.

That makes me think the trend that is more likely to continue is the high points tally. Both these offenses have shown they can run up the scores and both defences have been exposed a little this season. Neither side have played for a while and although Buffalo will have been able to get on the practice pitch and work on a few things that luxury wasn’t available to the Titans for long periods. I think that will lead to the point scoring continuing at a nice rate here so I like over 51.5pts.
