NFL 2020 – Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers Tips and Betting Preview

The oldest rivalry in the NFC gets renewed once again in the Sunday Night Football this week when the Chicago Bears take themselves to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers in a huge showdown in the NFC North.

The Packers go into the match 7-3 for the season and can all but wrap up the NFC North title with a win here as they would move three wins ahead of the Chicago Bears who start out 5-5 with just five matches remaining after this one.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers have had the odd poor performance this season but they look the standout side in the NFC North and can confirm that dominance if they win this match. Aaron Rodgers has rebounded well to the controversial first round draft pick earlier in the year by producing some of the best form of his career and while he’s in good touch the Packers are always a chance regardless of what the rest of the side have to offer on a particular day.

Although they have been in good touch the Green Bay Packers have lost three of their last six including the overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts last weekend and that is very much a concern. To be fair to them though two of those three losses were on the road. It is only the Minnesota Vikings who have left Lambeau Field with a win this season on a day where Dalvin Cook ran all over the Packers, who had no answer to him.

Chicago Bears

This has been a very strange season for the Chicago Bears. They won five of their opening six matches, without looking completely convincing it has to be said. Such were their fortunes in getting those victories that they actually changed quarterback halfway through that run and now after suffering four losses in succession they are now switching back to Mitchell Trubisky which suggests the lack of any sort of plan or philosophy.

To be fair to Trubisky and indeed Nick Foles a large part of their offensive problems is the complete absence of any sort of run game and until they can take a little bit of pressure off their trigger man you sense that isn’t going to change. The positive for the Bears all season has been the quality that their defence and you sense if they are to push on and get back on track by winning this match, that side of the ball is going to need to be as strong as ever.

Betting

Historically this has turned into a bit of a low scoring fixture and with the way the Chicago Bears offense is performing at the minute I’m not sure we should expect anything different in this match. The game is huge for Chicago. It is almost impossible to see how they can make the postseason if they lose this match, which from a 5-1 start to the season would have to go down as a major failure were it to happen.

There is no doubt that the Green Bay defence is the weaker side of their game but they are unlikely to be as exposed or as under pressure as it has been in certain weeks recently which is likely to take the pressure off Rodgers and allow the offensive play book to be opened up a little but this Chicago defence know how to contain #12. I expect Green Bay to win a hard fought contest but recent history suggests the best bet is under 44.5pts.
