The final match of an interesting Sunday in the NFL sees the defending champions in action when the Kansas City Chiefs will look to light up the Sunday Night Football when they host their fellow AFC West team Denver Broncos.
Kansas City have been almost flawless this season and look to be cruising to another AFC West title and it is actually possible that they win the division in this match. The Broncos are all about finding something for next season and being the spoilers from here on in.
Kansas City Chiefs
After a bit of a soft schedule during the middle of the season, the Kansas City Chiefs have played opponents that they could have come unstuck against in the last couple of weeks in the Las Vegas Raiders and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but they have beaten both of them with the minimum of fuss. The scoreboard suggests that their win over the Bucs was a close one but it really wasn’t. They blasted into a big early lead and lasted home.
We don’t really need to focus too much on the Kansas City offense. It is the most powerful offense in the entire league and the more Le’Veon Bell gets to play within it the better it is going to get. Their defence has been the area where they have really improved this season, although they will know that side of the ball just started struggling in the second period last week so they will be looking to make some adjustments and tighten up here.

Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos were sitting ducks against the New Orleans Saints last week when they were forced to go into battle without a regular quarterback after one sustained Covid and came into contact with the others in the facility. They had no chance of winning without a recognised triggerman and although they will have a quarterback in situ for this match, you’d have to be an ardent Broncos fan to give them much hope here.
The Denver offense just isn’t delivering the goods and when it comes up against one of the top sides they are found wanting. To be fair this is a side built to win matches on defence but that theory was blasted up early in the season when Von Miller went down. It would be extremely unlikely that any of their quarterback options for this match are going to be their starter when next season begins so really motivation in the Broncos camp must be on the low side to say the least.
Betting
If you were being critical of the Kansas City Chiefs in the last few weeks it is that they have been guilty of keeping sides in matches and scoreboards not really reflecting the match. I don’t expect that to be an issue here though because I just don’t see the Denver Broncos keeping up with the Chiefs in the scoring department. It doesn’t really matter who lines up at quarterback for the visitors in this match, they are not good enough and with the possibility of winning the AFC West title I’m expecting Patrick Mahomes and co to put on a show.
You’ve got to think that the Chiefs will put up more than 30 points in this match and probably approach the 40 mark if the Denver Broncos can’t get any substantial drives going and it is just hard to see such a limited offense getting more than 20 points here which is that the Broncos are surely going to need to do if they are going to come close to covering the point spread let alone actually do it. I just don’t see it. I don’t like backing big handicaps especially in this season but I just don’t see how Denver stay close without a lot of help from their opponents.
