NFL 2020 – Kansas City Chiefs @ Las Vegas Raiders Tips and Betting Preview

The Sunday Night Football in the NFL this week comes from the swanky new stadium in Las Vegas when the Las Vegas Raiders host the Kansas City Chiefs in what is an extremely important match in the AFC West.

Las Vegas sit two wins behind the Chiefs going into this match but should the home side come out on top they would move within one and would have the head to head over the reigning champions. A Chiefs win here would all but sew up the division.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders go into this match off the back of a solid run of four wins in their last five matches. In the main those victories have been high scoring ones although apart from the reverse meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs they haven’t really beaten anyone so we might find out whether they are genuine wildcard or even division contenders or if they have just taken advantage of a soft schedule and happen to be sitting ducks.

The passing game of the Raiders has been a bit of an issue in recent times and that certainly isn’t a good thing going into a game which is more than likely going to be a shootout. The positive is that their defence has stepped up to the plate in more recent matches and that is very much a good thing here because they go up against one of the most potent offenses in the game. You get the impression Las Vegas will raise their game again here against their rivals and it will be interesting to see if that is enough.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have only lost one match this season but they won’t need reminding that they come up against the only team to knock them off this term in this match. They probably won’t have needed any extra edge for this game because this is beginning to become a big rivalry but if they did need it they certainly have it. No champion side likes to be beaten by the same team twice in the one season let alone ones in their division.

The Chiefs have rebounded from that loss to the Raiders by winning their last four matches and they have scored heavily in all of them as you would expect. The big question for them here is whether their defence can hold up because it coughed up 40 points to the Raiders in their first meeting this season. If it can then you would expect the visitors to come out on top here but things become more of a lottery if they need to get involved in another shootout.

Betting

Usually in Kansas City Chiefs matches I like taking the over in points but I think the desperation for both teams to want to win here might actually keep the scoring lower. If the passing game of the Las Vegas Raiders was in good touch then I might have taken the over even as high as it is when you consider the two teams combined for 72 points in the reverse meeting but I expect both teams to have made the necessary adjustments to temper the scoring a little here.

I expect the Raiders to look to manage the clock with the run game here and to be fair their defence is going a lot better since they beat the Chiefs the first time around so both those things could well temper the scoring. The Chiefs will just be about levelling up the head to head for the season rather than running the score up so they too might well manage the clock out if they are in front in the third and fourth quarter. I’ll take the under here.
