NFL 2021 – Las Vegas Raiders @ Dallas Cowboys Tips and Betting Preview

As is becoming the tradition, the second match of a busy day of NFL action on Thanksgiving Day on Thursday comes from the AT&T Stadium where the Dallas Cowboys host the Las Vegas Raiders in what appears to be the pick of the triple header.

The Cowboys are one of the better teams in the NFC but are coming into this one off the back of a loss last week while the Raiders have hit a wall in what started out as a promising season so both sides will be eager for the victory here.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are one of the many teams who have had to fight injuries this season but despite their absences they begin this match with a 7-3 record. That all sounds fine but they have lost two of their last three matches and were surprisingly subdued in the defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs last week. They will be looking for a much stronger output offensively here but it is that side of the ball which they are struggling for personnel.

They will definitely be without Ceedee Lamb and Amari Cooper here and might also be missing Ezekiel Elliott as well so Dak Prescott is going to need to be shrewd when he has the ball in his hands. The one thing which will ease the pressure on him slightly is the fact that the Cowboys defence is in good working order. Micah Parsons is becoming a real stud on that unit and if they can come to the party once again then Dallas will be confident here.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders were going along very well this season but then came two huge off field sagas and you sense they haven’t really recovered from them. Losing head coach Jon Gruden was unfortunate because he was everything to the offense of this team and the last thing they needed was to see their deep threat Henry Ruggs banged up and chucked off the team. Since he left the Raiders have been floundering but they have a high profile clash to put things right with here.

The Raiders have lost their last three matches and haven’t put up 20 points in any of them so they need to come up with a way of stretching the field to allow their ball players to be able to play. Derek Carr and Darren Waller have a good relationship but a predictable offense is a bad offense. The Raiders need to step up defensively as well although to their credit it was only very late on last week when the Cincinnati Bengals got away from them.

Betting

I think the Dallas Cowboys will win this match but I’m not overly enamoured to be taking them to cover a touchdown with all their injuries and so soon after a bruising encounter with the Kansas City Chiefs last week. I wouldn’t really want my dough on the Las Vegas Raiders at present either so I’m going to play the under even though I hate taking unders in these high profile occasions. The 51.5 point line just looks a little too high to me though.

The Vegas offense has become way too predictable and the lack of a power run game means their third down conversion percentage is terrible. They now go up against the second best defence in the league on that down and if they can’t progress they are not going to put many points on the board. The Dallas offense might be less potent than normal with a bashed up Elliott and two wide receivers missing so this looks like a Turkey Day without too many points to me.
