NFL 2021 – Week 8 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

We have another packed Sunday of action in the NFL and as ever the majority of the Week 8 matches come on a what could be a scary Sunday for a number of teams and that is without mentioning Halloween!

Once again we have a couple of matches on the TV to enjoy over the course of the evening while all the main action is available on Red Zone. The bookmaker services also provide the matches which will finish an hour earlier for those of us who aren’t night owls due to the clocks not going back in America until next week.

1pm Kick Offs (5pm UK time)

The televised game in this first session of play comes from the AFC South where the Indianapolis Colts will look to close in on the Tennessee Titans at the top of the division when the two sides lock horns in what could be a defining match in the chase for that particular division title. There are seven other matches in this kick off slot with three being divisional contests. They see the Buffalo Bills hosting the Miami Dolphins in the AFC East, while in the AFC North the Cleveland Browns entertain the Pittsburgh Steelers. Over in the NFC South the Atlanta Falcons meet the Carolina Panthers.

Five other matches take place in the earlier kick off slot with the pick of them seeing if the Los Angeles Rams can close in on the Arizona Cardinals when they go to the Houston Texans. A win will see the Rams tie the Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers with a 7-1 record. The other matches sees the New York Jets taking on the Cincinnati Bengals, Chicago Bears welcoming the San Francisco 49ers to Soldier Field and the Detroit Lions looking for a first win of the seson against the Philadelphia Eagles.

4.05/4.25pm Kick Offs (8.05/8.25pm UK time)

The televised match in the second set of games comes from the home of the Super Bowl where the Los Angeles Chargers play host to the New England Patriots looking to avenge a pretty nasty defeat last season. That is one of just four matches in the second slot. Of the other three we have the other two NFC South teams meeting at the Superdome where the New Orleans Saints host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a match where there will be no love lost.

Two other matches take place in the later set of games, neither of which are going to have much significance in the bigger picture as far as the league is concerned. One of those comes from Lumen Field where the Seattle Seahawks welcome the Jacksonville Jaguars while in the other one the Denver Broncos will look to resurrect their season when they take on a Washington Football Team who are going nowhere fast.

Betting

This isn’t the best set of matches to bet on but there is one that I like. That comes in the later set of games where I like one in the TV match as the Los Angeles Chargers play host to the New England Patriots in a match where I’m expecting there to be plenty of points. I say that because with their secondary the way it is I don’t think New England can win this without it turning into a shootout. Luckily for them they have warmed up for the clash by sticking 50 points on the New York Jets.

Given the state of the secondary, I expect Justin Herbert and his passing game to really thrive here. He probably has a point to prove and his team certainly do so I expect them to be back on it here. There is a chink in their armour though in their run defence in particular but the Baltimore Ravens showed that you can pass on this Chargers team too. This should be one of those see-saw matches where both sides score relatively at will. I’ll take the over 49.5 points here.
