NFL 2022 – Buffalo Bills @ Cincinnati Bengals Tips and Betting Preview

The last match of what has been a dramatic Week 17 in the NFL 2022 season comes along in the Monday Night Football which is a huge game for the two teams involved when the Cincinnati Bengals host the Buffalo Bills.

The Bengals watched on as the Baltimore Ravens lost in the Sunday Night Football so they know a win here wins them the AFC North title. Buffalo saw Kansas City go above them in the race for the AFC top seed and need to win to stay in that particular race.

Cincinnati Bengals

It was a bit of a sticky start to the season for the Cincinnati Bengals and at the halfway mark of it they were 4-4 for the year and people were wondering if their run to the Super Bowl was a fluke. Something clicked at that point though and they have won their last seven matches heading into this one to already secure another postseason spot. They will now have their hopes on winning the AFC North title and potentially snatching the number two seed off the Bills next week.

In this recent run, the Bengals have played solidly on both sides of the ball. Their offense has actually only put up more than 30 points on one of the last five teams they have beaten but the longer the campaign has gone on the better their defence has got and in that time they have re-established their run game and this is the perfect time of the year to put together a balanced game. This one is now about handling the pressure of a primetime match with a big prize at stake.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have been steadily improving as a team for the last three seasons or so and were looking like real Super Bowl challengers when Von Miller was doing his thing to back up their elite offense but his injury just leaves a question mark or two over them and it will be interesting to see how they go about a match like this, which should in theory be good preparation for the postseason where these two are currently scheduled to meet in week two.

While the Buffalo Bills’ defence has given up a few more points in the latter part of the season than they did in the early part, they still head to Ohio having won their last six matches and another victory here would guarantee them the number two spot in the AFC. Most of their offensive output comes through Josh Allen in some shape or form but if they can establish a run game and control the clock better it should serve them well in the postseason.

Betting

I think we are in for an exciting Monday Night Football here because both teams will be eager to win but can play with the freedom that they have a decent second prize should they lose. I also think these two sides are more powerful offensively than they are defensively, especially when you consider that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has a full complement of receivers to throw to once again.

These quarterbacks are good leaders of high powered offenses and with the Buffalo defence that is dealing with injuries and has clearly weakened in the back field against the pass as a result of the decline in the pass rush. I don’t expect Josh Allen to struggle too much when the Buffalo offense is on the field so I’m expecting plenty of points in what really does look like a cracker of a Monday Night Football. I like over 50.5 points in this one.
