NFL 2022 – Kansas City Chiefs @ Las Vegas Raiders Tips and Betting Preview

We have reached the final week of the NFL 2022 regular season and it begins with a double header on Saturday evening, one which has plenty on the line right from the off where Las Vegas Raiders host the Kansas City Chiefs in the first game.

The Raiders are playing out their season here but the Chiefs head to the desert knowing that if they come out with a win they will secure the number one seed in the AFC and the bonus of having next week off.

Las Vegas Raiders

When the Las Vegas Raiders traded for Davante Adams ahead of this season and paired him up with Derek Carr, the Las Vegas Raiders were expected to be challengers this year but they got off to a terrible start and couldn’t undo the damage they had done and they have played last week and this one knowing that their season will end when the clock runs out against the Chiefs. They have also basically admitted they are going in a new direction from here on in.

Derek Carr has been benched and it would appear that he is going to be moved on in the close season so there are a number of players who need a performance here in order to ensure they are around for next year. Generally it has been their offense which has let them down in the second part of the season, perhaps not in yards and points but in coughing up a turnover when they least need it. Jarrett Stidham performed well last week and if the pass rush and the run game can back him up here the Raiders could go well with nothing to lose.

Kansas City Chiefs

Given the chances that have had to be made to the AFC playoff bracket after the awful scenes in the Monday Night Football last week, the Kansas City Chiefs could do with winning this game and securing the number one seed else they could be getting involved in neutral games and not really knowing who they are going to be playing. A win here means they can kick back and watch everything unfold next week which will be the desired outcome.

The Chiefs didn’t have things all their own way in the opening match with the Raiders but there is no Derek Carr or Chandler Jones to wreck their plans here. Their offensive line will still need to be on guard though because Maxx Crosby is more than good enough to get to Patrick Mahomes. Expect the Chiefs to let some quick passes go and maybe set up some screens. Their own defence will want to keep Josh Jacobs a lot quieter than they did back at Arrowhead in week five.

Betting

I think we are in for an entertaining opener to the final week. Las Vegas Raiders have nothing to lose and their backup quarterback has just taken the best defence in football apart so the Kansas City Chiefs aren’t going to hold no fears for them but at the same time this Raiders secondary is not exactly going to cause Patrick Mahomes and his wide array of receivers any sleepless nights so it is hard to see how this one won’t be full of points.

I guess the only way it might be low scoring is if Josh Jacobs is as dominant as he was in the first game between these two but even then he rushed for 150 yards and there were 59 points. The Chiefs’ run defence can be so exposed that Jacobs will eat up the yards when he gets past the first line of defence. Kansas City have to win so if they go behind they’ll look to score quickly to get back into the match. Las Vegas can have some fun so I expect the 51.5 point line to be covered here.
