NFL 2022 – New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys Tips and Betting Preview

The second match of the Thanksgiving Day triple header in the NFL 2022 season will get the competitive juices flowing when the Dallas Cowboys go up against their NFC East rivals New York Giants in the pick of the trio of games.

Both these teams head into turkey day with 7-3 records. That is no surprise as far as the Dallas Cowboys are concerned but it very much is a surprise where the Giants are concerned. The winners here will emerge as the main dangers to Philadelphia Eagles in the division.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are 7-3 for the season which normally would just be what you would expect but when you consider that half of those matches were played without Dak Prescott it is a particularly good 7-3. The three defeats came at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers which aren’t terrible results, although to be fair the loss to the Packers isn’t a particularly good one this season.

The thing I’ve liked about the Cowboys this season is when they have lost this season they haven’t just bounced back but they’ve come back in style. They beat the Bengals after losing to the Buccaneers and demolished the Lions and the Vikings after their other two defeats. This is a Dallas side who are excellent defensively, having only conceded 20 points three times this season. Their offense has caught fire in recent times so they are looking good.

New York Giants

When you consider the seasons of struggle that the New York Giants have had since the powers of Eli Manning began to fade, this campaign is a very pleasant surprise indeed. They were actually in an even better place than that when you consider that three matches ago they were 6-1. That begs the question whether they are just finding the going a little tough and are just reverting back to type having been found out a little. They get the chance here to show that isn’t the case.

The incredible thing about this 7-3 record for the Giants is that they are doing it with a fairly basic but balanced offense. There is nothing special about what Daniel Jones is doing but it works. It works because it keeps the defence off the field for long periods and they will really need that help in this match. That defence is then fresh and is able to restrict the opposition but whether they can do that against this Cowboys side remains to be seen.

Betting

The big problem that the New York Giants have here is not just that they are on the road on a short week but they go up against an offense that has just caught fire and they go up against them with a bashed up offensive line and a secondary which is equally banged up and given that this is a short week rejigging things and getting a plan in place won’t necessarily be easy. The Dallas Cowboys have scored 35, 37 and 44 points in their last three home games against the Giants and you’d have to think they can get in that range with this potent offense that is available to them.

Whether they actually get up there I’m not sure but you can get odds against on them to score over 3.5 touchdowns and I like that play. It is Thanksgiving against a rival team so there won’t be no letting up from the Cowboys and with the likes of Micah Parsons potentially forcing a turnover in Giants territory or Trevon Diggs intercepting a pass, Dallas might not have to go the length of the field for their scores. I like over 3.5 Dallas touchdowns here.
