NFL 2022 – San Francisco 49ers @ Denver Broncos Tips and Betting Preview

The final match of an entertaining Sunday in the NFL is the Sunday Night Football which this week comes from Colorado as the Denver Broncos welcome the San Francisco 49ers with Russell Wilson going up against a familiar foe.

These two teams go into battle with 1-1 records for the season so the incentive to come out of the week with a positive record on their ledger is there for both of them so we should be in for a decent primetime affair.

Denver Broncos

A lot was expected of the Denver Broncos when they moved to get Russell Wilson as a free agent but I think it is fair to say Russ hasn’t been cooking up too many tasty dishes as a Bronco just yet. He would love nothing more than to do it against a former rival team and the Broncos would like it to happen as well as in a lit up division they can’t afford to slip up too often and certainly not on their own patch so the pressure is on the here.

Wilson can certainly have no complaints about his defence not giving him a chance. That side of the ball have restricted opponents to 17 points and nine in the first two weeks of the season but offensively they have only scored 16 points each week and more was expected there. They now have Jerry Jeudy to injury which isn’t going to help the offense too much so you would imagine Wilson will look to get the run game going and hope it opens up a few extra passing lanes.

San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers were hoping that Trey Lance would be the man to lead them to the Super Bowl this season but not six quarters into the campaign that plan had to change after he suffered a season ending injury. That means they have had to go back to previous starter Jimmy Garoppolo which in a way is no bad thing as he took them to the NFC Championship game a year ago and knows the other offensive players but it does mean that the offensive plans have to completely change.

The 49ers went down to the Chicago Bears in a match which was played in horrendous conditions in the first week of the campaign before beating the Seattle Seahawks last week so they will be looking to build on that and come out of Week 3 with a positive record. Defensively the 49ers have conceded just 19 and seven points so if they can get the offense motoring under Jimmy G they should be capable of winning plenty of matches. They hope to have George Kittle back for this one too.

Betting

I think the San Francisco 49ers are in a better place than the Denver Broncos at the minute and I expect them to come out on top in this match. The 49ers hope to have George Kittle back for this one and that will give the solid, if unspectacular, passing game of Jimmy G another boost but it is the opposing passing game why I like the 49ers in this one. With Jerry Jeudy out for this match it leaves Courtland Sutton as the main man for the Denver Broncos but the 49ers defence will know that and surely shut that option down.

To be fair to the Denver defence, they could easily turn this into a tight defensive battle but they haven’t really faced an offense of note yet and if Kittle is fit and firing then I think we can file the San Francisco one in the above competent drawer. When you consider that San Francisco are very good defensively and nicely balanced whereas Denver have one or two key players rated questionable and put the whole package together I think the 49ers win this.
