NFL 2022 – Week 1 Sunday Early Games Tips and Betting Preview

The first Sunday of the NFL season sees 13 matches taking place on a poignant day in America. The traditional two slots of games happen on a day where a number of title contenders will be hoping to showcase their credentials and show the work they have done in the off season has had an immediate impact.

The NFL coverage in the UK continues to be excellent and as ever we have two live games in full to enjoy while the RedZone coverage keeps us up to date with everything else that is happening. All the matches are available with certain bookmakers too.

1pm Kick Offs (6pm UK time)

We head to the AFC East for the opening Sunday TV game in the UK as the Miami Dolphins look to showcase their credentials for the season with Tyreeq Hill in their ranks when they take on the New England Patriots. Among the other matches there are three divisional clashes with the Atlanta Falcons taking on the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South while the Cincinnati Bengals welcome the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North. The other game comes from the AFC South where Houston Texans take on the Indianapolis Colts.

Five other matches take place in this kick off slot with the highlight probably coming at Soldier Field where the Chicago Bears will go up against the San Francisco 49ers who will have Trey Lance as their official starter for the first time. The Carolina Panthers are also at home on Sunday when they welcome the Cleveland Browns with Baker Mayfield going up against his former side. Elsewhere, the Detroit Lions host the Philadelphia Eagles, the New York Jets welcome the Baltimore Ravens and the Washington Commanders go up against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

4.25pm Kick Offs (9.25pm UK time)

We have another divisional battle in the second TV game slot on Sunday when the two NFC North rivals Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers meet in a clash which will potentially shape the division even this early in the season. That isn’t the only divisional clash in this kick off slot as there is also a battle between two teams in the AFC West as the Los Angeles Chargers welcome the Las Vegas Raiders to Hollywood.

The other two matches aren’t short of storylines either with a potentially very entertaining side at the venue which will host the Super Bowl at the end of the season. That sees the home side Arizona Cardinals beginning their quest to be at their own party when they host the Kansas City Chiefs. The other match comes from Nashville where the Tennessee Titans will look to open up their season with a win when they host the New York Giants.

Betting

This is more a week to assess the runners and riders rather than plough through the card so I’m going to go with just the one bet which actually comes in the second of the kick off slots and happens to be in the TV match as the Minnesota Vikings host the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings actually opened up as slight underdogs for this match but that has been addressed with them giving a point now rather than getting one and I think that is right.

For all the Packers have Aaron Rodgers at quarterback he is without his elite wide receiver Davante Adams now and we are guessing as to who could replace him. Whoever it is will have to go some to match Adams’ impact on the field even if they do have the best passer in the game setting them up. Minnesota have no such issues. Their offensive output is guaranteed and cohesive with the likes of Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen and Dalvin Cook. Minnesota have a strong enough defence as well so if they perform here they should open their season with a win.
