NFL 2024 Playoffs – Baltimore Ravens @ Buffalo Bills Tips and Betting Preview

We might well have saved the best for last in the NFL 2024 Playoffs Divisional Round as we find out who will go to the Kansas City Chiefs next week when the Buffalo Bills host the Baltimore Ravens in a high profile Sunday showdown.

These two are the second and third seeds in the AFC and one of them will head to Arrowhead Stadium next week to battle it out for a spot in the Super Bowl. The other will be watching on with their season done so we are set up for a cracker here.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have kind of gone a little unnoticed in the AFC this season with the Kansas City Chiefs blazing a trail at the forefront of it and the Baltimore Ravens catching the eye with their powerful offense. If the Bills are to reach the Super Bowl they will need to knock off both in successive weeks but they have the chance to remind those who might have overlooked them in the wake of the other two that they are genuine Super Bowl contenders.

Clearly if the Bills are going to win this match then Josh Allen is going to need to be at his brilliant best. The Bills defence is going to have its work cut out stopping this Ravens offense so Allen is going to have to come out and fight fire with fire. He has the tools at his disposal to do that both in the passing game and with his own legs but the onus will be on him to deliver the goods and then anything that the Bills’ defence can complement it with would be useful.

Baltimore Ravens

I think it is fair to say that when these playoffs began, most expected to be seeing the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs meeting for the AFC Championship. The latter have already secured their spot in that showdown and now the former have the chance to hold up their end of the bargain. They will probably be pleased to have had the extra day to prepare for this match purely because of the rivalry intensity of playing the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.

The reason why the Ravens were expected to go so strongly in this postseason is they have the best running game in the NFL at the minute, especially deep into the matches where these things can often be won and lost, and a defence which while probably not at the levels of the elite ones they have had in the past, certainly have enough in them to make some plays at the right time to allow the offense to control the scoreboard and more importantly the clock.

Betting

We should be in for a corker of a match to close out the Divisional Round of games here and it is one that I will largely just sit back and enjoy rather than take a massive betting interest in. I do think the Baltimore Ravens will win this match but their postseason record does put me off backing them as a slight favourite. I just don’t see Buffalo containing this Baltimore offense for the whole of the 60 minutes and one man in particular could torch them.

That man is obviously Derrick Henry, a player who rushed for 199 yards when these two met towards the start of the season. That was against a relatively fresh Buffalo defence but at this time of the year no defence is all that fresh and tackling this monster for four quarters will take its toll eventually. The weather is expected to reach Baltic temperatures by the time this one kicks off so there will be a strong emphasis on running the ball which will only further heighten the impact of the Ravens’ running back. The rushing yards line for Henry is 93.5 and there is more than enough evidence that he’ll cover it.
